As the spotlight moves from person to person
Some try to avoid it all together.
No individual can control it,
No matter how rich, famous, or clever.
Some people desire to be in the spotlight
So the public will better remember their name
While others try to get out of the spotlight
To escape real and imagined shame.
Who the spotlight shines on is hard to predict
And the public's reaction is harder still.
It shines on those who save
As well as those who kill.
The spotlight does not always shine
In places where it should.
When it shines on something evil
It misses something good.
