A teenaged boy had an obsession
To become a sensational basketball star.
His tallent was mediocre by college standards
But he insisted he could go really far.
Nearly every day he would practice for hours
Making sure everyone could see his stuff.
When he reached college he quickly discovered
Hours of practice were just not enough.
With no backup plan he had to rely
On his family and friends he had deserted.
Rarely is one thing worth the price of all others
And when it is it must be asserted.
