         DETERMINATION
       By ... Steve Lucky

No one thought he would ever succeed,
But he knew he could prove them wrong
By keeping himself away from greed
And focusing on the song.
He had no delusions about his choice,
To succeed would take him years.
It would take him time to perfect his voice
And conquer his stage fears.
Knowing the slow path was the safest,
He would sometimes take risks too.
Hard work was required for what he wanted
And this he was willing to do.
Much free time he would sacrifice
For the sake of perfecting his art.
Concentration and practice was not always nice,
But in the long run it would be smart.
When his big album finally came,
He knew it was all worth while.
Even if people forgot his name,
They would not forget his style.
