           NEIGHBORS

As I go for a walk in my neighborhood,
I look at the people around me
And realize these are my neighbors.
In church I look at the people beside me
And realize these are my neighbors too.
Neighbors all around me.
Everywhere I go, these people interact with me
And I interact with them.
Through my words, deeds, thoughts, and actions
I can learn to love my neighbor as myself
The way Jesus taught us to do.
My attempts to become like The Good Samaritan
Will be made more clear if I practice.
Through slow, steady repitition my actions will become
More and more like the ultimate example.
I know I will never reach that point,
So room will always exist for improvement.
I also hope to better spot
The neighbor who resembles The Good Samaritan
From among the people around me.
If Jesus can die on a cross for me,
Surely I can do something nice for someone else.
