DUTY
By ... Steve Lucky
When obligated to do things
We really do not want to do,
An honest sense of duty brings
Our responsibility into view.
To do our duty, we sacrifice
Personal needs for the greater good.
After listening to others give advice,
We are the ones who must do as we should.
Duty is not always written down
In terms we clearly can define,
Yet even in an unknown town
I know the duty that is mine.
If I help a stranger in dire need
Or find another person who can,
When I am the one who has to plead
At least I already have a plan.
Rarely will you recieve great riches
By fullfilling your unwritten obligations,
But other types of rewards immune to gliches
Can be found in all the nations.
