The young woman extended her hand in friendship
To the one who had caused her problems
For so many years.
She thought back to all the teasing and taunting
Her classmates had done
And all the false and viscous rumors
She had spread about her.
This was all in the past.
It was time to make a fresh start.
Trembling she extended her hand out further.
The other young woman accepted
And shook hands with her.
Graduation was here at last.
