A LONG TRIP
By ... Steve Lucky
Traveling continues by day and night
Down the road with no end in sight.
Taking turns at the wheel was keeping
A way for all passengers to do some sleeping
Stopping for gas and stopping to eat
Was something to regularly repeat.
As grass, trees, signs, and rails went by
Two constant companions remained, the road and the sky
Construction work was slowing down
Steady travel from town to town.
Hills and rain the group would endure.
For the distance remaining they were unsure.
With the end coming into sight
They knew everything would be alright.
