  Here are some more facts about  GWTW . 
 
 GWTW  is truly a unique movie. "Why?" you might ask. 
 Because  GWTW  is a Civil War movie that never shows any battle scenes. 
It only shows the effects of the war on the people and the land. 
 Some examples: 

   1.crowds wait anxiously for the Gettysburg casualty lists 

   2.Trains of wounded soldiers arriving as Ashley arrives for his Christmas leave 

   3.Ashley delivers his discouraged end-of-war speech to Scarlett 

   4.Melanie and Scarlett care for the dying and wounded at the Atlanta hospital 

   5.Panic in the streets as Sherman's army shells Atlanta 

   6.The many wounded men at the depot as Scarlett tries to find Dr. Meade to deliver Melanie's baby 

   7.The burning of Atlanta 

   8.The Confederate army as it retreats 

   9.Scarlett hiding under a bridge with soldiers passing above 

   10.Scarlett and Prissy on her way to Tara crossing a battlefield of dead soldiers 

   11.Scarlett viewing Twelve Oak's destruction and returning to a Tara that would never rise as before 

   12.The Yankee deserter that dies at Tara 

   13.Franks resisting to hand Mammy his pants and scrub 

   14.feeding the "starving scarecrows" returning from the war defeated 

   15.News from a soldier that Ashley has been taken prisoner
