There are a few people I would like to thank for their contributions to what I've done here. I've never been one to take all the credit, and nobody would let me get away with it if I tried. So, here's who's to blame (in no particular order)...

WEST COAST VIDEO, CHAMBLEE GA: This is where it really all began for me. From its opening in 1987 to its closing in 1992, this was the place I rented all my tapes from. My parents allowed me to rent whatever I wanted, but for some reason most of the clerks still gave me a hard time when I brought R-rated movies to the counter. I'd personally like to thank Rasheen and Heather, who were always cool to me there. In a time when employees were getting arrested for selling restricted items to kids, they could've cared less what I watched.

DAN HEISEL: Not only was Dan responsible for showing me how to write HTML, but years ago he inspired me to seriously start collecting movies. To this day, I still think he has more B-movies than I do, but we trade back and forth all the time. If anyone comes close to sharing my high reverence for bad movies, it's Dan. (By the way, how did you like ILSA: SHE WOLF OF THE SS?)

FANGORIA MAGAZINE: This is still hands-down the best magazine in the world. I've been a subscriber for as long as I can remember, and I still read each and every page. It'll be a sad day when ol' Fango hangs it up, which I hope never happens. There's truly nothing out there that compares.

VIDEO LIBRARY, ATHENS GA: For the last couple years, this has been THE place to get the craziest stuff. Link and the gang have treated me like a friend since day one, and their knowledge of all movies obscure & arcane keeps me in constant amazement. I thought I'd seen it all until I got my membership to your store. You guys are cool.

MIKE WELDON and PSYCHOTRONIC: Anybody who knows anything about B-movies knows Mike is god. I'd truly be lost without my PSYCHOTRONIC encyclopedias. I probably read out of them once a day, which I admit is sick. I will forever remain in awe of his work, nonetheless.

KRISTI O'NEAL: The world's greatest unknown Scream Queen, and a dear personal friend. I'll make her into a B-movie star yet. And bless her heart, she purchased a copy of CAFE FLESH just because she thought it was a great film. She had no idea it was a rare cult item starring the great Michelle Bauer (in her early days acting under the name Pia Snow). Kristi, you rock.

JOE BOB BRIGGS: His "Drive In Theater" show on The Movie Channel was my absolute favorite thing on cable TV during the years it was on. Currently, he works for the evil TNT channel, bringing socially acceptable horror and schlock to the masses. However, in the late 80's and early 90's, he was responsible for showcasing such gems as LADY GODIVA RIDES, INCOMING FRESHMEN, and DEADTIME STORIES (just to name a few). Back then, I'd leave the VCR recording his show while I slept, then I'd hit play when I came home from school and see what he'd brought me. It truly was like christmas, and had a lot to do with my criteria for good horror movies: The "3 B's"... Blood, Breasts, and Beasts!

SANTIAGO VELASQUEZ: My best friend for over 10 years, he has supported EVERYTHING I've done, right down to the crappy girls I dated in high school. He's been there to see my progression from Freddy Krueger maniac to the well-adjusted member of society I am today. Of all the freaky movies I've ever seen, Santiago is the one who somehow got ahold of the freakiest: PRISONER OF PLEASURE. I don't know if it's something I should thank him for or not, but the image of "the stump" is embedded in my brain forever.

FREDDY KRUEGER: My hero! The NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET films were my rite of passage from being a scared youngster to full-fledged horror maniac. I got the hat, mask, glove, and sweater before I'd actually seen the movies (at the time there were only 2), and putting them on somehow enabled me to conquer my fears. By the time DREAM WARRIORS came out, I was rooting for the bad guy with all the rest of the fans. Every inch of my room at home had Freddy on it. It's a wonder how I slept in there at all, but I loved it.

MATTHEW COMEGYS: The first kid in town that I corrupted, Matt firmly believed that weirdness was a virtue. Even as grade-schoolers, we thought there was nothing cooler than low-budget filmmaking. Thank you for being my partner in crime, Matt, and for going along with all my crazy ideas.

VISION VIDEO, ATHENS GA: Still pound for pound my favorite video store in Athens. They're contantly getting new and exciting things, tapes that I never find anywhere else. Someone there really knows what I like.

ANDREW at BADMOVIES.ORG: My absolute favorite website. This guy is the best. He's got a great sense of humor, and there's no shame in his game. Please check out his site if you haven't. Anyone who loves B-movies will agree it can't be touched.

LINNEA QUIGLEY: For some, it was Madonna. For others, perhaps Cindy Crawford. By some twist of fate, Linnea was the object of my adolescent desires. My pre-occupation with her tied into my early love for B-movies. I searched for anything that she was in, and stumbled upon tons of great films as a result. She's still one of my favorites. Say what you will about her, Brinke Stevens, Michelle Bauer, Julie Strain, Maria Ford, or Jewel Shepard: I defy any of Hollywood's leading ladies to even attempt to pull off one of these actresses' cinematic feats. They're truly the real deal.

MY WIFE, JULIE: I could say, "thanks for putting up with my countless viewings of these corny movies", but that's not the way it really is around our house. Julie is as much a lover of cheesiness as I am. She reads paperback romances, watches all those silly "erotic thrillers" that come on Cinemax at night, and never misses an episode of HERCULES or XENA. We are truly well-suited for one another. My constant movie-going partner, she has grown to revere and admire the same underrated actors I do over the years. Julie gets just as excited as me now when we see Bruce Campbell or Jeffrey Combs on the screen. I couldn't be happier.

And last (but definitely not least)...

MY DAD: This obsession of mine with movies, horror in particular, all started with my dad. He was there when William Castle's TINGLER was buzzing asses across America, when Bill Gaines's EC COMICS were blamed for juvenile delinquency. Later on, he was the only one glued to his seat when audiences watching THE EXORCIST ran for the exit doors. He was the one who brought the original EVIL DEAD into the house when I was a kid. Even though I was scared to death of these movies, and would have nightmares about just having to watch them, he continued to bring them home. BLOOD FEAST, AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, RE-ANIMATOR, THE WIZARD OF GORE, and more zombie movies than you could shake a severed arm at piled up on our shelves at home. All my dad's. When I recoiled in fear after accidentally seeing part of one he was watching, he told me that one day I'd be begging him to take me to see them. He was right. Oh man, was he right. It was no time before my walls were adorned with every Freddy Krueger poster imaginable, and I was making lists of videos for him to pick up on his way home from work. I'm sure he thanked heaven when I finally got a driver's license, because I made him take me to everything that oozed blood or howled at the moon. He and I still spend hours on the phone discussing the latest horror flicks, and to me that's wonderful. Sorry, mom. It wasn't just a phase after all.
