For the conservative church, drama is a hot button issue. Apart from the traditional Christmas and Easter pageants, strongly conservative leaders are wary of including drama within a worship service, or even the wider church calendar. Associated with "seeker-sensitive" or "charismatic" churches, conservative churches often disgard the method with the message.
Coralie Cowan, a Youth Pastor's wife and veteran of church and Christian theater, questions the role of drama for the doctrinally conservative church. In three seminars she presents a view of drama as a teaching tool, used through out Jesus' ministry and other parts of scripture. In an exploration of scripture and a brief look at church history and the church fathers, she challenges the church to canonize the message not the method and to consider whether drama is so linked to secularization as we tend to believe.
