Lafayette and Harriette Hoage: Lafayette Hoage was born to an unknown slave mother and unknown father in Virginia. He was attached to a Captain Mabbeth, USA, during the Civil War in New Orleans and after the war went to Rochester, NY with Mabbeth. There he married Harriette Elizabeth Henon. They built Hoage House in 1871 in Boiling Springs, now Rutherford, NJ. I am doing research on this family.
