Sand bear art-Cut a simple bear from tagboard. Mix sand with powdered brown tempera paint (or whatever color desired); Spread glue over the bear and then shake/pour sand on. Let it sit for a minute or two, then shake off excess.

Here are two of my student's sponge art bears. Aren't they great???
Bear Sponging-I let the children sponge paint with bear sponges and bear face sponges. This is always a fun one.

Teddy Bear Playdoh-We make brown playdoh from scratch, using brown tempera to colorize. The children help make and cook the playdoh. Then we use bear cookie cutters and stamps to make teddy bears!
Marshmallow Bear-I make a blackline master of a bear and then run him on paper; I then let the children use brown, white, or black paint to paint with. They simply dip their marshmallow in paint and press away!!
Jamberry-Cut out a large bear shape from fingerpaint paper. Let the kids fingerpaint it brown; when dry draw a stomach area and let them dip their fingertips into a red or maroon color and paint "jam" on.
Bear with Honey-Make a blackline master of a brown bear on brown, then let the kids glue honeycombs onto his stomach area: or run a honey pot and let them glue honeycombs on! This is cute as Winnie the Pooh!!

One of my students working on the red bird
Brown Bear Animals-Using bulletin board paper, I let the children together make the animals from Brown Bear, Brown Bear, collaboratively, using various art mediums/textures. When finished, I hang from the ceiling.

My students working on yellow duck!
Cinnamon Toast Bears-Using a bear cookie stamp, we stamp a piece of bread, or refrigerated cookie dough. Then we toast it(or bake it), spread it with butter, and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Biscuit Bears-Using refrigerator biscuits we place one biscuit on a piece of floured wax paper; this is the head. Then we cut another biscuit in half, to make his muzzle. The we take the other half and cut it again, to make his ears. Place muzzle on top of head and ears on top of head. Then put two raisins in for his eyes, and a maraschino cherry for the nose.
Honeycombs-We eat some Honeycomb cereal by itself for a snack.
We also eat gummi bears for a snack, after we sort and count them of course!
Polar Bear Punch-We drink Gatorade Alpine Snow to go along with our gummi bears. We eat "polar bear" fish (goldfish) with this drink!

Drinking the polar bear float!
Polar Bear Float-We make coca-cola floats to drink!!
Teddy Bear Cake-We make a chocolate cake in a teddy bear shaped pan. The children frost and decorate it for our teddy bear picnic.
Teddy Bear Grahams-Another eat it by itself snack!!

Brown Bear, Brown Bear Jello-Using clear cups and markers, draw the corresponding animals from Bill Martin Jr's Book onto each one. Then add the correct color of jello to each cup (We found every color including white!!). (Chocolate pudding for the brown bear, and very dark devils food pudding for the sheep). I line up all of the cups of colored jello. I place the animals on the art cubby. I ask the children which jellos they would like to try. I request that the student tell me the color, and the identify the animal that matches that color. This is a wonderful language enriching snack!!
Jamberry treats-After reading Jamberry, you must have jam crackers! We spread peanut butter and strawberry jam onto golden graham crackers and of course repeat all kind of alliterations!!!!!!
