A short story on why the ending bites…

OK...You've battled your way through the evil barons of Hell, Xen, and the White House Intern Staffing Office, and even beat the Nihilanth.  You've (kind of) found out who the man in the black suit is.  For those of you who don't want to know about the ending, stop reading.  You can either jump in the portal and be hired, or stay in the train-cart and be teleported to an alien grunt soldier line up.  PLEASE VALVE!!!  After spending a week playing (what I consider) the best game ever, I can pick between death or a job???  Now I see why iMMoRTaL hates you.  I, single-handedly, killed a GARGANTUA with the HIVEHAND, and all I get out of it is a shit ending?

For those of you who haven't played, here's the whole deal:

The last enemy you face in the game is called the Nihilanth.  He looks similar to the things in the Alien series, except he is ultra-evil, and shoots balls at you (again, similar to the White House Intern Staffing Office).  Actually, he resembles a Xen Master, which resembles the things from Alien.  Anyways, he teleports you, shoots "Balls-O-Death" at your head, and makes a bunch of aliens spawn.  After you shoot these spikes, he loses a lot of his power, and his head peels like a banana.  You have to use a trampoline and shoot his 'brain' to kill him.  You are then confronted by the G-Man (the dude in the black suit) who takes away your weapons.  He explains all this stuff to you.  He says that he would like to hire you.  You can jump in a portal and be hired, or stay in the train-cart you are in and face certain death.  If you choose to be hired, text similar to this appears:

Subject:  Freeman
Status:   Hired

The G-Man says he looks forward to seeing you in the future, and the game ends.  If you stay in the cart, you are teleported to a room full of about 100 alien grunts, and this message is displayed:

Subject:  Freeman
Status:   No longer under observation
Postmortem:  Refused position

That isn't exactly what it says, but I'm so mad I don't feel like looking.
