The tale of two sister and their respective loves and losses could not be any truer today. Both young women are decieved by their lovers, and both eventually find happiness, though at times, eventual joy seems impossible. Austen's prose reflects the order and ranking of 18th century society and tells the story beautifully. Such a romantic tale, filled with twists and turns, could scarcely do else than become a classic, as is has. This is one of Jane Austen's six novels, all of which deal with her own times, yet transcend all barriers to translate so easily into our own.
