Reginald Williamson’s mother disappeared while Reginald was still very young. He was raised by his eccentric father in a huge house. Here, Reginald could do basically what he wanted. He read about myths and the occult, and one day accidentally summoned a mjaor demon. This demon cursed Reginald but through meditation he learned to control his curse. Thus, The Living Sludge was born.

Brainhead (whose true name is unpronounceable by human tongue) was sent to Earth to learn about it in preparation for an invasion. However, after his reports, the Zarkronian government decided it wasn’t worth the bother, but forgot to send him transport home, so he remained on Earth as an ambassador.

 

Zarkron is a planet inhabited by asexual fungus based humanoids who are able to use mind control on humans because of genetic chance. There are two main religions there, the church of the holy spore and the church of the forbidden spore.

He went to England and learned photography and learned the enjoyment gained from watching 70s horror films. Soon, he realised he could have more fun in Manhattan, hanging around with super-heroes.

Born in the subterranean city of the moles below Chernobyl, the only son of a liaison between a high born moloid woman and the mole man. After the nuclear incident of Chernobyl, the resultant radiation killed the majority of the Russian moloids but made "Snif" stronger.

 

His father commanded that he and his mother emigrated with the Russian mole people to America.

 

Mole Man realised very quickly that certain subterranean factions wanted his son dead, so he sent him to "safety" above the surface. Here, he was cared for by the Avengers until Black Widow (Natasha Romanov) saw that maybe it would be better for everyone if he joined new upstart team The Squires.

Captain Courageous only recently awoke, a bum in an alley with super-powers. He cannot remember his past at all, although recently an experience with some sharks dislodged something at the back of his mind. He is still unsure what part they play, but he knows that sharks have some part in his history. Recently, Captain Courageous was so heavily influenced by a beatnik epidemic in Manhattan that he has changed his entire outlook on life.

Robert was born in 1840 into a rich family. In 1870, he was exploring the mountains of Eastern Europe when he came across a cavern. He entered the cavern and found a great table with much food on it. He searched the area for danger and when he found none, guzzled it down. He saw the light of the cave entrance dwindling and ran there only to see the cavern entrance closed. He then felt drowsy and awoke in the year 1977 to see children in front of him. He startled them and scared them away and has spent a long time learning of what he has missed. He learned after his slumber that he had gained great power, the source of which is a magical staff that is bonded to him somehow, and his costume is also part of that staff.

Ever since his birth Nil has had an infatuation with stars, through school he learned everything about astronomy and astrophysics. It was only until his early teens he noticed his strange link to the cosmos was more than that. He was a mutant, and his superior genes granted him the power over the cosmos itself, though this power was hard to control and during his first experiment, he caused an accident which killed his family.

He tried to ignore his powers but the universe has a strange irony and circumstances have conspired against him, he has had to use his powers on many occasions for personal defence. He now has built up the courage to begin using his powers regularly to aid the forces of good and to achieve his childhood dream to see the stars.

Justin’s parents died in a freak laundrette accident, leaving him an orphan on the streets of India, from the age of two onwards.

 

On his thirteenth birthday, he stowed away on a ‘plane to America and taught himself pottery and rollerblading.

 

With his $25 million lottery win, Justin installed a kiln in his bedsit. At midnight on Halloween, a bolt of lightning struck a truck transporting nuclear waste just as it passed Justin’s window. Radioactive clay fused with his DNA, creating the mighty Melting Pot!

Tony Everton was born in England. He travelled to the US so that he could do a film degree. While doing this, he became obsessed with films and his poor exam progress caused an addiction to coffee. He failed his degree and so turned to his scientific friend, Austin Burns. Austin offered to pay Tony if Tony would let him perform some experiments on him. These experiments gave him his powers. He continues to work in his video shop, although he has decided now to help the Squires if the need seriously arises.

 

FREAK SHOW:

Freak Show formed when they met after being controlled by Madcap and Impossible Man's "Hilarious" mind control machine in Squires Issue #8. They consist of Rabid, The Temptress, Mangor and Eclipse.

Born eight years ago in South Africa, the Mangor was a mystic shaman who, blessed/cursed by the mountain gorilla god moved to New York. There he suffered huge growth and at the age of five he was a fully grown man. A scientist later took him away to a research facility where he was transformed into an 11 foot tall winged gorilla - Mangor. The scientist did this in a vain attempt to create an evil army, but Mangor just flew away and became a hero.
