Brent's Most Electrifying Movies
"You can be my wing man anytime." "Bullshit, you can be mine."
Top Gun
A movie about a guy looking for something that is right in
front of his face the entire time. I can relate to this movie the best because of the
brotherhood between Maverick and Goose. I feel the exact same way with some of my friends. I think if I had to compare myself to one guy in the movie it would be Slider for a couple reasons. For one thing, Slider was IceMan's partner. Ice Man was not only the best, being the best came natural to him and he expected it. Slider could have been a pilot of his own, but he liked being with the best. When I think of how things go in certain situations, I sometimes feel like Slider because I've got this IceMan always in front of me kicking major ass while I support him, kick a little ass of my own, but always stay in the shadows as he gets the glory. Fortunately, Slider liked being in the shadows and so do I. I know my role and I like being with a winner, and those are two things I feel are important for anyone in life.
This is like three of the
greatest movies ever made. My personal favorite Star Wars film is the "Empire Strikes Back" because
that is the movie where the story line really develops. It also has the biggest cliffhanger of the
three (DARTH VADER IS LUKE'S FATHER, NO WAY!!), and I love cliffhangers. It's funny that I like
the Star Wars trilogy because I really do not care much for science-fiction or anything else that
is just completely unbelievable. When I look at the films, I really do not even think much about the
intergallatic battle (even though it is pretty cool) because the story makes the movies. "Star Wars" is
like the standard for which special effects should be judged because it focuses on the fact that a special
effect sucks without a story to back it up. In my opinion, that is why the "Star Wars" trilogy has made more
money than about any series of movies ever.
If you like movies about the mafia, then you have to like "The Godfather." "The
Godfather" is simply the catalyst of all great mob movies. My personal favorite movie in the trilogy is "The Godfather
Part II." I like that one the best for a number of reasons. First of all, I love how they show Michael and Vito Corelone
at the same stages of their lives using flashback. Not only does it keep the movie going, but it adds a great deal of complexity
to the film. I also like the time period delt with in Michael's part of the movie. The whole thing with the Senate hearings
and the trips to Cuba were really cool. Finally, Michael's ultimate decision to kill his brother Fredo for betraying
the family gave the film a great deal of emotional drama. It was like you could feel the pain
that it was causing Michael, but I respected him a great deal for looking out for the entire family
and not allowing his brother to do whatever he wanted.
I know this film looks a bit out of place, but it is probably the one that has had the
most effect on my way of thinking. To be honest, when I REALLY care about something, only the best will do. I become a
perfectionist. This film, without a doubt, has changed my definiton of perfectionism. It is something that I really can not
explain, but I think if you watch the film that you will see it. The movie taught me that the imperfections in people are
what make them perfect. Laugh if you must, many of my friends already have, but I really think that this film is one of the
most well written movies of all time. It is hard for me to believe that the two guys that wrote it were only a couple years
older than myself.

Who doesn't like the Austin Powers movies? They are so smashing, baby.
