Quod quisque vestrum mortuo optarit mihi,
id illi eveniat semper vivo et mortuo.
What anyone of us will have chosen for me, dead, may that always come to pass for him, living and dead.

The Outer World is populated by living men and women...men and women who are fated one day to run out of life and die. On the day of his death, each man enters the House of Hades where any of a myriad dooms await him. Be ye brave and enter now the House of Hades so that you may see and hear for yourself the the tales and torments of a bad life and the rewards of a good. Meet a few of the inhabitants of the land to which all must eventually go and share their pains and pleasures. Then bear back this understanding of the Rich Lands to those unbelievers who populate the Outer World that they might know the truth of what comes after....

The entrance way to Hades can be reached through several means. Perhaps the most famous entrance is the network of caves at Cumae near the deadly lake of Avernus. Both Aeneas and Odysseus descended into the underworld by means of these caves. A lesser known portal to the realms of the dead is the Taenarean Gate which Orpheus used when he sought the return of his beloved maiden-bride Eurydice. Of course, the simplest and most common-place entrance to Hades is simply to die....

Abandon all hope ye who enter the Virtual House of Hades....

Qui legis hunc titulum, mortalem te esse memento.
You who read this plaque, remember that you are mortal.
