"When We Die"

Verse 1

Children just seen to so much know
they seem more in tune than every did we
in the very clear questions they ask show
they have been given many special a key.

 Verse 2
********

"Mommy, what happens when we die?"
"Teacher says that Jesus is coming back."
(Here he is into deep thought as I try)
"So we'll go up, and then come back?"

Verse 3
********

(As hard as I can I'm thinking now;
but he is already off on another attack.)
"Mommy, I keep wondering how
we can go up and then come back."

 Verse 4
********

"Do you think we will just come to visit?"
"What if you are busy and can't see me?"
"Or I'm at work and when you come I miss it?"
"Are you with Mommy, this is important to see?"

Verse 5

(Thus when my day is through with my son in bed;
I shrug my shoulders and ask his father about this.)
He looks at me and laughs then shakes his head,
(I'm so thankful as a mother none of this did I miss.)

"You Know Mom, Thinking is Important"

"I think I'll bring my thinking cap
in case I need to
think while I'm there."
This the way we started today
and asked I why is that?
He with serious eyes,
looked deeply at me and said,
"Mom thinking is important!"
"Don't you realize all you can
learn if you just think?"

 Verse 2
********

"My head is for thinking
of really serious things;
you know is Grandma really
happy to see me, or is she sick,
or am I asking to many questions,
or does she need something done,
maybe the dog needs to go out,
or the garbage, all the things
I need to think about when
we visit grandma and grandpa,
why else would I need to wear
my thinking cap, isn't that
what you taught me
when I was young?"
"You know I'm almost six,
and that is pretty old."

(Oh the joy of being a mom
to this loving child of mine
knowing he is growing
and learning to be himself;
with all the joy a parent
could ever in this life
desire for her son.)
