"It Wasn't Much"

C.J. Ingerson
12/06/98

Verse 1
********

Just a matchbox
or maybe a nickel
once I had a dime
then a silver quarter,
but it was never much
in the way of the world
but it was always mine
so I could keep it
or spend it if I wanted
but mostly I'd fine
someone with less
than I had, so I'd share
it wasn't ever very much
in the way of the world
but it was always all mine
to give it away freely
to another who had
less than I just now.

Verse 2
********

I guess that is how
love is in our lives
we have enough for all
if we but give it away
it isn't much in the world
but it is ours to give
in anyway we want to
so I like to give all mine
away each and everyday
so tomorrow I can try again
to do it all over if I can,
I guess it wasn't much
in the way of the world
but it sure is fun giving
it away again tomorrow
from what I found today.
