"Two Goals"

C.J. Ingerson
12/20/98

Verse 1
********

The plan is simple at best
we were sent from the portal
but two goals were the test
first a gift of a body mortal.

Verse 2
********

The second just as easy to see
we were to learn simply to obey
to control our desires to better be
and learn "Father thy will" to say.

Verse 3
********

Just two simple things to require
a mortal body and to obey the law
each surely things for us to desire
and all we need to do is heed the call.

Verse 4
********

For others it becomes more complex
as they want to pay or buy a way
not knowing this our Father will reject
yet they continue to this path stay.
What is it in carnal mortal man/woman
that is so rebellious to want to know
the law is for all to read and understand
does Satan really have that much pull.

Verse 5
********

The law is the word of God written found
upon the plates, scrolls and sticks of time
some above and some beneath the ground
showing us where and how to draw the line.

Verse 6
********

These laws are without limits and unending
till all the prophecies are fulfilled in full
surely each Prophet also said unbending
there is nothing written we cannot know.

Verse 7
********

So seek we only these two simple goals
one a free gift from Heavenly Father above
to be a woman or to be a man their roles
mortal bodies to care and treasure as love.

Verse 8
********

The second to obey the Father's law
which we need to read to understand
then the Spirit which will to each call
so we will know when to kneel or stand.

Verse 9
********

May you treasure the freedom we have
to read the scriptures freely given to us
as the Balm of Gilead was used as salve
to heal the wounds of time incurred thus.

Verse 10
********

Why is it that man want things to be hard
to not set goals, when it is within the plan
yet they seek riches of the worlds shard
limiting their vision to which their eyes scan?

Verse 11
********

While awaits them all that Father has to give
for two simple goals to complete while here
someday to receive the right to forever live
yet often at night all we can feel is a tear.

Verse 12
********

We've tried we say to all obey, while yet
we know this is not true, we know it's right
for we love the pleasures of mans so set
we give up these two goals without a fight.

Verse 13
********

So my brothers and sisters as you ponder
the day just ended or the one tomorrow
were you obedient or did you just wander
or are we just living a life on time to borrow?

Verse 14
********

Given what we know to be true today
how can we let such opportunity pass
are we really willing such a price to pay
or do we think at the end to make a dash?

Verse 15
********

Two goals only, one a body, a free gift
the second to obey, and receive all
that Father has in store for us to lift
how can we not obey such a call?

Verse 16
********

Is it to live in wonder of what will be
Father really isn't asking all that much
just for us to open our hearts and see
this right to feel the Master's touch.
