"WARNING DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR!"
(In older days for those who remember the Kingston Trio -
this may ring a bell; if not a Bill of truth.)

"Citing Too Much Trouble"

C.J. Ingerson
3/6/99

Verse 1
********

In congress today my friend
have you heard the recent news
weekends are now at their end
citing from the Kansas City News.

Verse 2
********

A Bill went before the senate
and was given a clean slate
that weekends were for the penitent
therefore were just a wasted date.

Verse 3
********

Since less than half of the people
fail to go to any church at all
or even the one with a steeple
the congress rolled a Bill to call.

Verse 4
********

Saturday and Sunday are idle time
a nurse hasn't known one in years
so that others should, is now a crime
and it is too late to waste any tears.

Verse 5
********

From now on we'll only have Monday
through a Friday except one weekend
or two days a year and that is for Funday
since no one seems to religion defend.

Verse 6
********

The people in the many bars and taverns
were heard to let out outrageous cheers
and all the many Christians sought caverns
to hide and get away from all of the jeers.

Verse 7
********

Oh is this a Sad lonely day to pay
for even when the vote was to be cast
the Bill was heard to loudly, proudly say
victory, vindication, America at last.

Verse 8
********

So if you read this poem at home
you at work should be right now
or you will in prison be cast alone
for breaking this new law born somehow.

Verse 9
********

This is even worse people than you think
for now even on these two Fundays
a year there can be no religious link
to any ceremony like the old Sabbath days.

Verse 10
********

Ah you think this is a joke watch today
at all who play and work instead of pray
for whether it is Saturday or Sunday
you call your very own Sabbath day.

Verse 11
*******

There will today be less people in Church
than those who voted in the last election then
now that all religions will in the breech lurch
this Bill is done and is not up for re-election again.
