"The Fountain"

C.J. Ingerson
12/31/98

Verse 1
********

Leaping high
the water seeks
release from
the pool
which gives it life
to escape
some imaginary line
imposed that
only none can pass.

Verse 2
********

And as the example
of the fountain
no matter how
much pressure,
each drop of water
will to Earth return.

Verse 3
********

Is this not the laughter
of friends when we
reach high towards goals
Celestial, eternal;
leaping high
only to in mortality
return to Earth
each time, each day?

Verse 4
********

But unlike the fountain
and the water therein
we can go higher
and then higher again
in spite of the laughter
for we learn to grow
to meet the goals
of the eternal
while yet here.

Verse 5
*******

Because we take control
while always the fountain
continues to be controlled
and always will be by another.

To my special friend Barbara . . .

"How Much Closer"

C.J. Ingerson
12/31/98

Verse
*******

Pushing and shoving
to get to the head
to be near the front
to be first in line
to say, "Me next,
my turn to go."

Verse 2
********

Then to be pushed
and shoved aside
to slip and fall
to rise again
to run to catch up
to never be left behind.

Verse 3
*******

So whether we lead
or fall or run
how much closer
need we get
to just now
feel the warmth within
of the Master's touch?

"Can One Really?"

C.J. Ingerson
12/31/98

Verse 1
*******

Often we read of greatness
of acts beyond belief
the invention or solution
none others could create
or solve on their own.

Verse 2
********

But always it is another
and we wonder why
it is never one like us
or even one we know?

Verse 3
********

Can one really do greatness
if only in the eyes of man?
Some will gain this acclaim
but not for most in this life.
Yet if we look into the eyes
of Heavenly Father everyone
can stand in the circle
of greatness by simply
obeying His commandments.

Verse 4
********

So can one really achieve
the greatness of this life
is we live in the world of men
the answer would be no;
but should we seek the shelter
of the love of Heavenly Father
the answer would surely be yes.

"She Was Special"

C.J. Ingerson
12/31/98
Verse 1
*******

Her appearance not to notice
her belonging of no great worth
education thought to be lacking
ever her self-worth sometimes low.

Verse 2
********

Yet here was one who greatness
enwrapped its arms about her
fully each and every day
for to some she was special.

Verse 3
********

Now the world knows her not
and ever in the city she isn't known
but within the home where it counts
she will never ever stand alone.

Verse 4
********

Her children call her mom, mommy
her husband calls her dear, sweetheart
she call to Heavenly Father daily
and in return He calls her His.

Verse 5
*******

Truly she is a special daughter
but most especially she is
in the eyes of a loving Father
the greatness of Proverbs 31:10-31.
