"May the Spirit Reside"

C.J. Ingerson
12/15/98

Verse 1
********

There are many spirits of men
which draw strength from many
to make happiness descend
from a few to provide of plenty.

Verse 2
********

Which spirit do you recognize
that which is a comfort to others
each morning when you arise
is there a prayer for your brothers?

Verse 3
********

Do you think to bow in prayer
for a sister alone and in despair
is the spirit in your heart to care
can you take this moment to share?

Verse 4
********

When you awoke today did you kneel
or did you just get up and go about
what kind of special spirit did you feel
did you raise your voice to shout?

Verse 5
********

Why is it we mortal beings feel so?
Yet when it is time to do something
so few take the time to even show
do we ever listen to the spirit sing?

Verse 6
********

As we approach another year now
will we continue as in the one past
some will do all that they know how
while others will promise but not last?

Verse 7
********

How is it we know what to do each day
yet by nightfall when we kneel to pray
words won't come for we've naught to say,
yet in the morning Fathers says it's okay?

Verse 8
********

Today you'll come unto to me just now
I'll forgive and forget all the days past
if you'll just keep your promises somehow
this will become the day the mold was cast.

Verse 9
********

Do you feel of the spirit to be a brother,
or to learn more about your sister,
to share your blessings with another,
filling where someone else missed her?

Verse 10
********

It isn't easy to change who we are
look who we have present on our side
for the Father sent His Son, with a star,
to never leave us without the spirit to reside.

Verse 11
*******

It is my family's prayer to one and all
this year the blessing of heavens be found
and will in multiple numbers upon you fall
may the spirit upon you reside all year round.
