"For His Love"
C.J. Ingerson
10/12/98

Verse 1
*******

I was in the valley
following with the crowd
I would listen daily
trying to no longer be proud.

Verse 2
********

But soon the crowd
began to dwindle in size
and was no longer loud
leave others would advise.

Verse 3
********

Yet I could see him there
and wondered aloud
that for us he could care
to have to wear a shroud?

Verse 4
********

Then I followed him
to the mountains high
now the crowds were thin
with all the soldiers nigh.

Verse 5
********

But I could not leave
to be by His side desired I
just once to touch his sleeve
to say, "let me follow thee, Sire."

Verse 6
********

I could feel him almost
and soon all around
warmth was felt the most
as his love I felt surround.

Verse 7
*******

Again I wondered aloud
how could one, this one
love me so much, so proud
to suffer the pain alone?

Verse 8
********

Now there are no crowds
(8) who gather to be near
three today were put in shrouds
and the heavens no longer clear.
