WWF Smackdown Report - October 7, 1999

• WWF Smackdown officially kicks off tonight, with a fitting tributeto the late Robert "Gorilla Monsoon" Morella, narrated by Vince McMahon. Rest In Peace.
• Kane/X-Pac d. Mideon/Viscera (pin)
- In a warm-up of sorts for "No Mercy," Kane and X-Pac battle two of the Undertaker's minions, Mideon and Viscera.Mideon and X-Pac slug it out to start,and X-Pac gets an upper hand. Viscera is tagged in and starts shoving his weight around. After a Samoan Drop, Kane comes in for a save. Mideon now comes back in to dominate X-Pac. Kane sneaks in a blind tag, which the ref sees, and nails Mideon with a choke slam to win. X-Pac starts to yell at Kane, but they are ambushed by The Acolytes in the ring.
• Kevin Kelly now gets a word backstage with The Rock, regarding the British Bulldog. The Rock only mocks Bulldog, and starts in on Val Venis instead. He rips on Val's movies, and the fact that he still has Mr. Rocko in his grasp. His catch-phrase ends the interview.
• We get a shot of a door backstage labeled "Warning: Poisonous Snakes." Meanwhile, Mankind congratulates The Rock for something he did, unknown to the audience.
• Lillian Garcia grabs a word with Mankind backstage, regarding The Rock's match with Val Venis. He requests as a favor to everybody, a match with the Bulldog, since The Rock is seemingly "fighting his battles."
• Hardcore Holly d. Road Dogg (pin)
- Hardcore Holly tries to gain advantage, but is stopped by Road Dogg, who dominates the early portion of the match. Holly takes advantage, as cousin Crash gets in his cheap shots from the outside. Road Dogg comes back after a chin lock escape, but Holly manages a near fall. Road Dogg is tossed over the top, and attacked by Crash Holly. Hardcore gets another two count, and Road Dogg with a small package attempt of his own. Holly leaps off the top rope and meets the road Dogg's boot in his face. Road dogg with his dancing punches, leads to the pumphandle slam. After Billy Gunn is distracted by Crash, Hardcore nails the Holly-caust to win. An angry pair of tag team champs get their revenge after the bout.
• We now see a clip of Mark Henry's first sex therapy session. He gets all flustered and embarrassed, before admitting having his first sexual encounter with his sister. The doctor tells him he needs a lot of help.
• Jeff Jarrett comes out to ringside and enters a mud-filled wrestling ring. He tells the crowd that Miss Kitty will wrestle in this mud, against an unnamed female opponent. Miss Kitty takes exception when Jarrett reveals that the only way you can win the match, is by ripping your opponent's top off.
• Terry Taylor gets a word backstage with the British Bulldog, hoping to get an answer to Mankind's challenge. A bitter Davey Boy tells everyone how he could care less about Stephanie McMahon, The Rock, and especially Mankind. This prompts Mankind to viciously attack Bulldog from behind.
• We now see a shot of the poisonous snakes, somewhere inside Nassau Coliseum.
• *Terri Runnels Invitational Tourney* New Brood d. Edge/Christian (pin)
- Terri joins the commentary team, as the next match in her personal tournament takes place. She annouces prior to starting, that this match is "Texas Tornado" rules. The action is hot and heavy as all four men go at each other's throats. Edge and Christian dominate most of the battle with impressive teamwork. Edge has Matt in a piledriver attempt, but Jeff stops it with a top-rope dive. Christian is downed on the outside after a wicked DDT by Matt. Edge is now being double teamed, but he powers out with a double clothesline. Christian attempts to get up, but is knocked out by a top rope plancha. Edge is now pretty much left to the wolves, but he manages to hang in there.Edge is nailed with a clothesline, as Christian gets back up on the apron, and into the ring. Edge with a spear, but a save by Matt Hardy. Matt is nailed with a stacked superplex, but Jeff manages to nail a Senton Bomb to win the match.
• Val Venis is seen in the dressing room, unleashing Mr. Rocko from his grasp.
• *Mud wrestling match* Ivory d. Miss Kitty (stripped of top)
- Jeff Jarrett comes back out and introduces Miss Kitty's opponent, women's champion, Ivory. Ivory is tossed in the mud,under protest, as she and Miss Kitty go at it. Ivory dominates things, as Kitty screams he head off. Ivory manages to rip Miss Kitty's top off, but network censors don't reveal anything underneath. After the match, Jarrett tosses the Fabulous Moolah in the mud, before getting thrown in himself, by Chyna.
• The British Bulldog is shown roaming the halls, as Shane McMahon is seen talking with Michael Hayes, at the Greenwich Medical Center. The whole attack by Bulldog on Stephanie McMahon, on the UK PPV, is now replayed.Hayes gets an official word with Shane McMahon, and he says she's doing better, but the wedding is postponed. When asked about the Bulldog's latest actions, Shane walked out.
• British Bulldog d. Mankind (DQ)
- Davey Boy wastes no time in pummeling Mankind, as he dominates in the early going. Mankind fires back with an attack of his own outside the ring.The Bulldog reverses the momentum, as the action now goes back and forth. Bulldog with a chairshot on Mankind, and he finally throws him back into the ring.Mankind kicks out of two near falls, and powers out of a chin lock, but is tripped up with a knee to the midsection. Mankind nails a DDT, as both men are on the mat. Mankind gets up and readies Mr. Socko, but the ref gets it instead. The match is immediately thrown out, as the Bulldog throws a post-match fit, brawling with Mankind through the crowd.
• More shots of the snakes in the arena, as a video package is shown of Jim Ross accompanying Steve Austin on a hunting trip. Austin claims that Triple H is scared of him, and promises no mercy to get his title back at the PPV. Back to live action, we now see Triple H entering the room with the snakes in it.
• Big Show d. Big Boss Man (DQ)
- The Droz injury situation is touched on prior to this match, with no new updates.I heartily wish Droz a speedy recovery. The Big Boss Man tries his best against Big Show, but the big man easily dominates things, until he walks into a sidewalk slam by Boss Man. Big Show easily powers out of a cover, and tries a choke slam. However, Boss Man whips out the nightstick, and gets disqualified. Boss Man tries to handcuff Big Show, but is choke slammed for his troubles.
• Triple H is in with the snakes. He makes metaphors for hunting, trapping, and rattlesnakes, as he rips on Steve Austin, fortheir big title match at "No Mercy." He destroys a snake inside a burlap sack, with a sledgehammer.
• Triple H's music now blasts throughout the arena, as he carries the bloody burlap sack to the ramp.He promises Austin that he too, will be going home after "No Mercy" in a body bag.
• Terry Taylor chases Triple H down the backstage area, to no response. Instead, he gets a word in with Val Venis. After Val rips on The Rock,he is ambushed by Mankind from behind. Enter the Bulldog who joins in by pummeling Mankind. Officials break everything up.
• Officials tend to a downed Mankind backstage. The Rock stops to see what's going on. Mankind tells Rock to go out there, and "win one for the Micker!"
• * No DQ * The Rock d. Val Venis (pin)
- The two men slug it out immediately, as The Rock executes a beautiful suplex. Val is now tossed over the top. The brawl carries over into the crowd,as this is indeed a no disqualification match. Val thrown back into the ring now, and falls for a swinging neckbreaker. The Rock now with a chin lock, and he catches Val with an elbow. Val puts on the brakes and slides out of the ring, but falls victim to a wicked clothesline on the ramp. Val now with a short clothesline on the stage, as he gains momentum. The Rock trips up Val on the ramp and dominates the bout now. Val counters in desperation as he slams Rock into the ringpost. Back and forth they brawl on the outside, and The Rock does color in the booth while still attacking Venis. Val with a powerbomb and two count back in the ring, followed by a suplex. The Rock powers out of a chin lock at the last minute and hooks in a fisherman's suplex, followed by a DDT for a near fall. Val counters with a powerslam for a two count, and grabs a chair on the outside. Mankind grabs the chair, trying to help The Rock, but Mankind nails him inadvertently. The Rock nails both Val and Mankind with the Rock Bottom to take the victory. The Rock and Mankind are seen arguing as the broadcast comes to a close.
