WWF Raw is War Report - August 23, 1999

- Jim Ross was in the ring waiting for the arrival of the new Heavyweight Champion, Mankind, but instead, Triple H, along with Chyna, made his way down to the ring. Triple H was irrate about how he had Stone Cold Steve Austin beat in the ring at the Summerslam PPV, but Guest Referee, Jesse Ventura, would not count the three. Triple H then talked about how he crippled Austin. He asked Ross if he was enjoying the scene of Triple H being upset over not winning the title. He took Ross by the arm and threatened to break it, unless Mankind gave him a title shot. Mankind came down and said he would give him the title shot later in the show. Triple H let go with a push of force, causing Ross' arm to fall hard on the mat, to a sickening sound, which appeared to be a break. Mankind ran in the ring and said now that Triple H had broke Ross' arm, he would break his promise to Triple H of the title shot. Shane McMahon then made his way out and ordered Mankind to defend the title against Triple H.
• Backstage, Jim Ross was place in the ambulance and gave a thumbs up to Mankind. Michael Cole substitued for Ross in his announcing position.
• Al Snow and Road Dogg went to a No-Contest, to let Snow retain the Hardcore Title.
- Both men starting brawling ot the outside with a cookie tray and broom sticks. Al Snow set up a table and jumped onto Road Dogg from a ladder, but missed. The Y2J clock then started and Chris Jericho came out. He tried to attack RD, but RD countered, as they fought to the back. The Big Bossman entered and hit Snow with the nightstick. He then stole Pepper. Snow ran after Bossman, but he got away in a car.
• The Big Show and The Undertaker vs. The Acolytes went to a No-Contest, to let Big Show and The Undertaker retain the Tag Team Titles.
- X-Pac and Kane came down to do color commentary, although Kane never spoke. When Faarooq was thrown onto the table, he provoked Kane. Kane nailed him with a fist. A brawl broke loose between all three teams. The Undertaker and The Big Show had words with each other on the ramp after the fight, as Kane stood over the a X-Pac in the ring.
• Backstage, Test said he had a surprise for Stehpanie. Stephanie wanted to know what it was, but Test said told her she would see and to stay put.
• A vignette aired of The Blue Meanie at someone's house with Stevie Richards holding a cam corder. Meanie was playing a video game and Richards said he was loser at it. Meanie said he used to beat Richards playing In Your House as Ahmed Johnson. He then turned the game off and put on the television. Richards asked what he was watching, with Meanie saying it was about the three kids who went in the woods and their footage was found. Meanie said their was something in the woods in Iowa called "The Blond Bitch Project." They went to go find it.
• Test Interview.
- Test came down and said there is a time where a man has to ask questions. He then called Stephanie McMahon out to the ring. Test got down on his knees, but before he could say anything, Shane McMahon ran down. He said he was a man of his word, but the relationship was going too far. Shane said the only way anything would go further was over his dead body. Test said that could be arranged, as Stephanie separated the two. Stephanie then got after Shane, saying she loved Test. Test still got down on his knees and asked Stephanie if she would marry him. She was very happy and said she loved him, but needed some time, as she looked at the sad face of her brother. They then hugged. Test looked at Shane, who had a happy face.
• Chris Jericho was backstage yelling at Howard Finkel for not saving him when Road Dogg was fighting with him. He said Finkel had to be a warrior.
• There was a new ring announcer. Her name was Lilian Garcia.
• Jeff Jarret Interview, with Debra, Mark Henry.
- Jeff Jarrett announced he would hand the European Title to Mark Henry. He announced Debra as the Executive Director of Jarrett Enterprises. He said he needed more help, so he introduced some woman named Mrs. Kitty. Jarrett then said he had an open contract for anyone to challenge him for the Intercontinental title. He also said anyone could challenge Mark Henry for the title. Meat was about to enter, but was attacked backstage by D-Lo Brown, who eneded up fighting Henry.
• D-Lo Brown defeated Mark Henry (w/Jeff Jarrett, Debra, Mrs. Kitty) by Disqualification, to let Henry retain the European Title.
- In a quick match, as D-Lo Brown went for the Lo-Down, Jeff Jarrett interfered.
• Backstage, Mr. Ass wanted to sign Jeff Jarrett's open contract to an Intercontinental Title match. Chyna walked by. He asked if she had a pen. She said she didn't and he told her to stay there and make sure that no one sign the contract, while he got a pen. She said okay, but then signed the contract herself.
• Backstage, The Rock made his way toward the ring.
• Backstage, Tori was interviewed by Kevin Kelly. She challenged Ivory to an Evening Gown Match for the Women's Title, which would take place on the official debut of Smackdown.
• The Rock defeated Gangrel (w/The Hardy Boyz) with the People's Elbow.
- The Rock opened up with his usual introduction. During the match, The Hardy Boyz were interfered. Edge and Christian then ran down and chased them around the ring to the back. Gangrel went for the Implant DDT, but The Rock countered and connected with the Rock Bottom, followed by the People's Elbow. The Rock took the microphone and said that he was sick of this number one contender stuff going on with Triple H, Mankind, and Stone Cold Steve Austin. He said the WWF was holding him back and now he would take matters into his own hands.
• Backstage, Howard Finkel was in a weight room, saying he was a warrior, as he ran back in forth.
• The Ultimate Warrior's music played and Howard Finkel ran down, acting like The Warrior. The Fink called out Road Dogg. RD came out and The Fink shoved him around. RD took him by the neck until Y2J counted down. The lights went out and when they returned, Chris Jericho attacked RD from behind. He gave him a powerbomb and then hooked his arms around and brought RD down for another powerbomb.
• Backstage, Al Snow was walking around saying, "Keep it together," obviously concerned about Pepper.
• Backstage, Mr. Ass went into Triple H's locker room, looking for Chyna. He asked where she was, but Triple H said he had no clue and to look harder.
• Backstage, Kevin Kelly interviewed Hardcore Holy. Hardcore had an open invitation for Crash Holly.
• Crash Holly came out right away to the ring. They braweled all the way to the backstage area and the cameras cut back to Kevin Kelly. He informed us that Stone Cold Steve Austin suffered torn ligements in his leg, as a result of the attack from Triple H the previous night on Summerslam. Mankind said Triple H did a lot of wrong things and tonight he would pay.
• Backstage, Al Snow was crying about Pepper.
• Viscera and Mideon defeated Kane and X-Pac with Viscera's Big Splash.
- The Big Show, Paul Bearer, and The Undertaker joined in for color commentary. The Acolytes came down and waited by ringside. After X-Pac gave Mideon the Bronco Buster, he was bumpbed from behind by Viscera, followed by a Big Splash.
• Backstage, Billy Gunn walked dowards the ring.
• Backstage, Howard Finkel asked Chris Jericho if he had improved. Jericho said it was okay, but he had to get better. He asked the Fink what he thought of Thursday Night Finkdown.
• Mr. Ass came down and called out Chyna. Chyna came down and Jeff Jarrett ran down with a guitar. He nailed Chyna across the head. Mr. Ass took another guitar Miss Kitty had and nailed Jarrett over the head with it.
• Backstage, The Rock headed to the ring.
• Triple H defeated Mankind, to capture the Heavyweight Title.
- Shane McMahon came down for a Guest Referee position and The Rock did color commentary. Chyna ran down during the match and recieved Mr. Socko down her throat. Shane then also got Socko. while Triple H was down. When Mankind went for the cover, there was no referee. They then brawled on the outside. Shane hit Mankind in the back. Triple H then hit him in the head with a chair, and then took a quick shot on The Rock that came out of nowhere. He threw Manking back in the ring and executed the Pedigree for the win.
