WWF Raw is War - January 17, 2000
Live from New Haven, Connecticut
Hosted by Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler
The program began with a brief memorial to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Cactus Jack made his way to the ring and exclaimed that Triple H was the reason behind his transformation. Footage from 1997 of Cactus Jack returning to Madison Square was also shown. Cactus Jack then challenged Helmsley to a match tonight. Triple H accepted the challenge, however, not without the help of the rest of DX. The entire melee caused the Rock to come out, which in turn prompted the Big Show to attack the Rock. The Acolytes came down to ringside as well, which eventually cleared the ring.
Test d. Big Bossman via pin fall to become the new Hardcore Champion.
The brawl went all the way to the back, with Test’s nose as the focal point of Bossman’s attack. When both men make it back to the ring, Prince Albert attacks Bossman with a nightstick. Test capitalizes by using the nightstick while hitting a highflying elbow from the top rope.
Triple H notifies The Outlaws that they will be matching up with the Rock and the Big Show. X-Pac and Helmsley would in turn take on The Acolytes. Terri was also shown adjusting her bosom in preparation for the Royal Rumble Bikini contest.
The Big Bossman exclaims that he will get revenge on Albert tonight.
The Godfather and D-Lo Brown with Hos d. Christian and Edge via pin fall
The advantage in the match moved swiftly to the side of the Pimps to be as Edge inadvertently runs into a Ho on the apron. This distraction didn’t allow Christian to make a tag to his partner, allowing D-Lo to connect with a low down for the pin.
Prince Albert and Bossman were then shown backstage brawling. They accidentally enter a room with a half dressed Tori, and Tori screams in disgust.
Tori runs into Stephanie’s dressing room asking her to book the match between Kane and Albert.
Kurt Angle d. Steve Blackman via pin fall
Kurt announced he had a mystery opponent for the evening, which incidentally ended up being Steve Blackman. The match was brief with Bulldog interfering striking Blackman several times with a kendo stick. Angle celebrated in the middle of the ring, as did Stephanie backstage.
Paul Wight cut a promo basically stating that the Rock should stay out his way tonight.
Lawler interviewed the Royal Rumble Bikini contestants; Terri, The Kat, B.B., Luna, Ivory, and Jackie. The segment ended with all the women attempting to rip at each other’s clothing and Mae Young coming down to ringside. Mae began to disrobe exclaiming that everyone can see her puppies. Mark Henry, Harvey, and the Fabulous Moolah stopped her swiftly.
The Acolytes d. Triple H and X-Pac via disqualification
Despite their offensive prowess, the Acolytes could not thwart off the additional interference by the Outlaws.
Michael Cole made a special report stating that Steve Austin’s spinal surgery was a success and that the rattlesnake would be able to return to ring action between six to twelve months.
The Rock cut a promo congratulating Austin for a successful operation. He then went on to ridicule the Big Show saying that tonight he would make his ass famous.
Jeff Hardy with Matt and Terri d. Buh Buh Ray Dudley via pin fall
Buh Buh dominated early with his unbridled strength. Jeff countered with the usual highflying tactics he and his brother are well known for. It wasn’t until Buh Buh missed a dive from the top rope that Jeff was able to hit a senton bomb for the victory. The Hardys were then pummeled after the fact, with 3Ds by the Dudley Boyz as well as being driven through tables.
Rakishi Phatu d. Chris Jericho via disqualification
Rakishi had to overcome many obstacles in this match. First, was interference via the Hollys. Chyna also came down to ringside and delivered a low blow. Rakishi concludes the segment with clotheslines to both Jericho and Chyna, and Too Cool handling the Hollys. Too Cool and Rakishi then did their dance routine.
Cactus Jack is shown speaking with the Big Show. Cactus Jack attempted to convince the Show to work things out with the Rock, but Show refused. Cactus Jack then spoke with the Rock and he refused to work things out as well.
Kane d. Prince Albert via pin fall
Kane’s awesome brute strength was too much for Albert. Kane was quick to connect with a huge choke slam for the win.
The New Age Outlaws d. The Rock and the Big Show via pin fall
The Rock and Big Show began their match by fighting with one another. The Outlaws finally made it to the ring and the Rock proceeded to take control with the Big Show observing from the outside. The Rock hit an early Rock Bottom, but the Ass man interrupted the count. Billy Gunn then hit a fame-asser, which knocked the Rock out. The Big Show tagged himself in and began his own destruction of the Outlaws, however, the Rock came from behind and struck Show with a chair. Gunn then capitalized and was awarded the victory. The segment ended with the Rock hitting the people’s elbow on the Big Show.
