WWF Raw – January 3, 2000
Hosted By Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler
Live from Miami, FL
The Rock begins the program with his usual dialogue to the adulation of the crowd in his hometown of Miami, Florida. He makes reference to the travesty of Mankind’s termination and then called out HHH and Stephanie. HHH announced that he will be taking on the Big Show and that the Rock will be in a handicap “you’re fired” match with the New Age Outlaws and X-Pac. The Rock is then ambushed by DX to end the segment. The Dudley Boyz defeated Too Cool with Rakishi Phatu via disqualification.
-Both teams display excellent teamwork and exchange some impressive moves in the beginning. On the outside, Rakishi is attacked by the Posse, who in turn were chased to the back by the Acolytes. Rakishi then made his way into the ring and hit a sit down piledriver on D-Von costing Too Cool the match. Too Cool and Rakishi ended the segment with their usual dance number. The Acolytes cut an interview basically saying they could beat the Posse with one arm tied behind their backs. Kurt Angle defeated Kane via disqualification.
Kane overpowers Angle throughout the whole match primarily. Angle however, is victorious due to a shot with a Kendo stick from Blackman. Kane is disqualified and he chased after Blackman towards the back. Stephanie makes her way to ringside. She calls out Chyna and Jericho and shocks them with the news that both of them are the Intercontinental Champion. If one of them defends the title and loses, both of them are losers. Hardcore and Crash Holly interrupt the segment and Hardcore demands a title shot with Chyna eagerly accepting. Chyna defeated Hardcore Holly to retain the Intercontinental Championship.
-The match was even from the beginning with both combatants exchanging acrobatic moves. The deciding factor however was Jericho interfering in the latter portion of the contest by hitting Hardcore with a fist. Chyna was awarded the victory, but Jericho walked away with the title belt. Stephanie and Triple H notify Prince Albert and Bossman that they are once again going to take on Test. Test however, will have some tag team partners this time around. Stephanie also tells Triple H that he will take on the Big Show for the title tonight. Triple H defeated The Big Show to become the WWF Champion.
The match is taken to the outside early on. They take it into the audience and quickly onto the top of the announce table. The Show then wields a flurry of tremendous offense including a chokeslam on Triple H but failed at three pin attempts. DX then distracted the ref and Helmsley was able to hit Show with a low blow and then the Pedigree. Triple H is your new WWF World Heavyweight Champion. Stephanie, Helmsley and the rest of DX celebrate in the ring as fireworks and black and green balloons fell to the floor.Big Bossman & Prince Albert defeated Test & Moolah & Mae Young via pin fall.
-Test sets up Bossman early for Mae Young to hit him with a bronco buster. Bossman and Albert recover and work on the injured nose of Test. The referee is distracted for a bit, which allows Bossman to hit Test with the nightstick. Albert then hit the big boot for the victory. The celebration continues for Helmsley’s victory in the dressing room. The Mean Street Posse versus The Acolytes goes to a no contest.
-Despite one arm tied behind their backs, the Acolytes fought hard in the beginning. The Dudleys however interfere with some chair shots, which knocked the Acolytes out. The Posse then began to whip the Acolytes with their belts. Howard Finkel introduces a film by DX called “Have a Bad Day.” It was basically a mockery of the Mankind persona and his recent firing. Jeff Hardy with Terri and Matt Hardy defeated Al Snow by climbing over the top of the cage.
-Al hits Jeff with the cage door first then a steel chair. Al then shoves Terri into the cage with he and Jeff and then chains the door shut. Jeff takes a majority of the punishment in this cage match up. Al at on point slams Jeff from the top of the cage. Jeff however musters enough strength to shove Al into the cage and then used Al as a springboard to climb over the top for the win. Howard Finkel introduces part 2 of “Have a Bad Day.” Once again we see a Mankind look alike and Triple H disguised as an Asian Physician named “Hung Lo,” in some dialogue. Brisco and Patterson are backstage consoling the Rock before his match. Brisco says he’ll miss the Rock alluding to the fact he will get fired tonight. The Rock then lays the smack down on him. Howard Finkel introduces part 3 of “Have a Bad Day.” The segment was a mock up of a Mankind book signing. Back in the DX dressing room, the Rock surprises the hoodlums with a sneak attack. The Rock defeated The New Age Outlaws & X-Pac
-Before the match begins, Helmsley announces that the fight will be a no disqualification. DX manhandles the Rock on the outside to begin the contest. The Rock is able to hit a few lariats but DX are quick to regain control again. The Rock battles valiantly back and is able to clear the ring with the exception of Road Dogg who was the recipient of the people’s elbow. Before the ref could finish the count, Bad Ass pulls him out. Mick Foley comes from the crowd and nails everyone with a chair, which allows the Rock to hit the Rock Bottom on Mr. Ass for the victory.
