• The show started off with pre-recorded footage from the previous day's Spring Stampede PPV, where Randy Savage and Gorgeous George congratulated Diamond Dallas Page on his Heavyweight Title victory, but did say DDP owed them. Scott Steiner then popped in and attacked DDP from behind. It was announced that DDP would defend his title against Steiner in the Nitro main event.

• Sting Interview.
- Sting started off by screaming out to the crowd. Sting said it was good to be back in black. He said several people tried to take him out of wrestling, but it would never happen. Sting said he was the only one who had been in WCW thick and thin, saying it was his turf. He said he built the house of WCW and it wasn't built by Diamond Dallas Page. Sting called out DDP and said if DDP had anything hanging between his legs, he would be waiting.

• Juventud Guerrera and Rey Mysterio, Jr. went to a No-Contest, to let Mysterio retain the Cruiserweight Title.
- Tony Schiavone said that Hollywood Hogan flew into Birmingham, Alabama to get his knee checked by Dr. Andrews after he injured it in the Heavyweight Title match at Spring Stampede. Juventud Guerrera was onto every move Rey Mysterio, Jr. executed in the beginning. At one point, Juvi went for the 450 Splash, but Mysterio knocked him off the rope. Mysterio then executed his top rope huracanrana finisher, only to be stopped by a surprise attack from Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit. Raven and Saturn then made the save, but Schiavone questioned where Kidman was. Raven and Saturn helped Mysterio up, but Mysterio wanted no help, as he pushed them both away. Raven and Saturn then attacked Mysterio.

• Backstage, Jimmy Hart talked to Hugh Morrus about wrestling the new "King of Hardcore," Bam Bam Bigelow. Hardcore Hak and Chastity interrupted and Hak asked Hart what he was talking about. Hak said he would show Morrus how to beat Bigelow, as Hak wacked Morrus over the head with a kendo stick. Morrus just laughed and hit a person behind him with the kendo stick, asking Hak if that was how you beat him. Hak said, "Well, yeah," as Morrus continued to beat the guy down.

• Kendo Stick Match: Bam Bam Bigelow defeated Hugh Morrus (w/Jimmy Hart) with a Diving Headbutts.
- Bam Bam Bigelow immediately brought in two tables. Both tried moonsaults, but missed. Both ended up hitting a table in the corner of the ring. Jimmy Hart tripped Bigelow, which let Hugh Morrus capitalize with a kendo stick. Morrus tried the No Laughing Matter Moonsaut, with Bigelow halfway on the table, but Bigelow moved out of the way. Bigelow then nailed Morrus with a diving headbutt for the win. Hart threatened Bigelow with a kendo stick in the end. Once Bigelow took the weapon, Hart ran off.

• Backstage, Rey Mysterio, Jr. questioned Kidman where he was when he (Mysterio) was attacked by Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko. Kidman explained he was out doing promotional work and he would always watch Mysterio's back.

• Diamond Dallas Page Interview, Conducted by Gene Okerlund.
- Heavyweight Champion, Diamond Dallas Page talked about being the new Heavyweight Champion. He sarcastically apologized about Hollywood Hogan's injury. Regarding Sting's challenge in the beginning of the show, DDP said Sting deserved a Heavyweight Title shot then and there, but couldn't give it to him, which got a negative reaction. DDP said he had other things on his mind, such as taking on Scott Steiner in the main event. DDP said he would show Steiner size didn't matter and would basically beat him. DDP continued to be booed by the crowd.

• Ric Flair Interview, with Arn Anderson and Charles Robinson, Conducted by Gene Okerlund.
- Tony Schiavone announced that Roddy Piper had arrived in the arena. Ric Flair, as President of WCW, said he would hold up the Heavyweight Title, because he didn't want Diamond Dallas Page as a champion. Randy Savage and Gorgeous George then made their ways out. Savage held up a document, with Flair's signature, which read the Spring Stampede Heavyweight Title match result was final. Flair said, with the power in him, Savage would no longer wrestle in WCW. He said Savage would sit at home and receive his weekly check. Flair then tore up the document. Referee, Charles Robinson then got in Savage's face, saying he was no referee. Robinson then asked why Savage had his bimbo, Gorgeous George, at Spring Stampede, which costed Robinson a big slap in the face. Savage then challenged Flair to a match for Slamboree, where if Savage won, he would be reinstated. Savage said he would put up his girl against Flair's girl (Robinson). Apparently, that meant Robinson and Gorgeous would go one-on-one at the PPV. Sting made his way out. Sting said since Savage was out of WCW and since "Diamond Dallas Trash" was not accepting his challenge, he challenged Flair to a match. Anderson and Flair got in Sting's face. Flair took the match.

• La Parka and El Dandy vs. Master Blasters (w/Jimmy Hart) resulted in a No-Contest.
- The Master Blasters were a new tag team, managed by Jimmy Hart. They were both big men, had panty-hose like material over their heads, and their names were Master Blaster 1 and 2. Out of no where, Kevin Nash interrupted and told the guys to hit the bricks. Nash took out both tag teams all by himself. Nash had some footage rolled from the previous Monday's Nitro, where he had made some kind of business meeting with Ric Flair. Nash said the business deal he made with Flair was if Flair walked out with the Heavyweight Title on the 4/5 Nitro, which he did, Nash would get a title shot at Slamboree against Diamond Dallas Page. That match was officially set, as Nash basically said DDP would go down.

• Kidman defeated Psychosis with the Shooting Star Press.
- The match between the two went at a fast pace. At one point, Psychosis attempted a high flying maneuver onto Kidman on the outside of the ring, but Kidman countered with a dropkick to the groin of Psychosis. Kidman later executed the Shooting Star Press to take the win.

• Goldberg Interview, Conducted by Gene Okerlund.
- Goldberg was almost the first to trip on the new rampway. Goldberg said when he built his record up to 174-0, he got screwed (bleeped out). He said, however, he gained retribution the previous night at Spring Stampede when defeating Kevin Nash. Goldberg then went on to discuss matters on Bret Hart. Goldberg said Hart was out of his mind for retiring. Goldberg said he would find Hart. When asked about Lex Luger's interference the previous night at the PPV, Goldberg said when Luger showed his face, it would be knocked off. Goldberg said he didn't care who had the Heavyweight Title, since the point was he would get it. Goldberg said he didn't have to have the belt to prove he was the champion.

• Booker T. defeated Rick Steiner via Pinfall, to retain the Television Title.
- As Rick Steiner was set to take the match with the Steiner Bulldog, Stevie Ray ran down, and surprisingly clocked Steiner from behind with a slapjack, to let Booker T. take the win.

• Scott Steiner Interview.
- United States Champion, Scott Steiner said coming to Yakima, Washington and trying to find a woman was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Steiner taunted Diamond Dallas Page, calling him white trash. Steiner said he would take DDP's Heavyweight Title and wife, Kimberly. • Goldberg defeated Kenny Kaos with the Jackhammer.

• Sting defeated Ric Flair (w/Arn Anderson) with the Scorpian Deathdrop.
- Charles Robinson was officiating and was sure to check Sting for illegal objects. Sting had Ric Flair begging in the beginning, which at that point, Flair tried to walk out. Anderson later called for a brief "time-out" so Flair wouldn't be counted out, who was knocked out on the outside. Sting put Flair in a figure-foure leglock, but Flair made it to the ropes. Sting had one pinfall, but Anderson put Flair's foot on the rope. Anderson got on the apron and yanked Flair out of the path of a Stinger Splash, causing Sting to suffer from a dive onto the turnbuckle. Sting later gave Flair a Stinger Splash and a superplex. Sting was about to put Flair in the Scorpian Deathlock, but was distracted by Anderson. After Sting crashed into the ropes, Flair put him in the Figure-Four Leglock, with leverage from Anderson. Randy Savage then came out and clocked Anderson right on the n eck. Sting reversed the Figure-Four and put Flair through the Scorpian Deathdrop for the win, although Robinson did not want to count the pin. Sting then put Anderson in the Scorpian Deathlock.

• Diamond Dallas Page (w/Kimberly) defeated Scott Steiner with the Diamond Cutter, to retain the Heavyweight Title.
- Roddy Piper made a surprise appearance and did color commentary with Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan. He was really over with the fans. Scott Steiner's United States Title was not on the line. At one point during the match, Steiner and DDP brawled through the announcer's table and down the aisle. Heenan left the announcer's table and took a trip around the ring. Steiner continued to dominate DDP. He put DDP through the Frankensteiner, but DDP kicked out. The referee was knocked out. Steiner then went over to his U.S. Title belt, took out some wire cutters, and took off a top turnbuckle. Steiner then slammed DDP's face and back into the exposed turnbuckle. Kimberly came out through the crowd and nailed Steiner on the head with a chair, which let DDP execute the Diamond Cutter for the win.
