WCW Monday Nitro – November 1, 1999

  • Backstage, Bret Hart is confronting The Outsiders. He tells them that he doesn’t need their help to finish his matches, so they should stay out of his business.

  • Bret Hart interview.
    -Bret made his way to the ring on crutches. Bret said he didn’t make his reputation by screwing people, and that Goldberg got screwed last week. He tells Nash, Hall, and Sid that as far as he’s concerned the US Title belongs to Goldberg. Sid enters. He says that the belt belongs to him. He said he had proof of Goldberg quitting at Halloween Havoc, and he’d show it later in the program. Sid said he wanted the belt back, Bret said screw him, which caused Sid to attack Bret. The Outsiders made their way to the ring, and awarded the belt to Sid. Sid exits. The Outsiders stay in the ring and mock Bret.

  • Backstage, Saturn arrives with Torrie. The Revolution take her away.

  • Vampiro defeated Berlyn to advance in the Heavyweight Title Tournament.
    -The Misfits made their way to the ring during the match. Berlyn’s bodyguard entered the match, but The Misfits pull down the tope rope, causing him to go flying over the top. Vampiro then hit the bodyguard with a chair. Vampiro then attempted a move from the top rope, but was drop kicked on the way down by Berlyn. Berlyn picked Vampiro up to slam him, but The Misfits pulled Berlyn’s leg out from under him and help Vampiro get the pin and the victory. Berlyn then gets on the mic, and says from now on he will not be screwed.

  • Nash tells Hall that he will not be able to manage him tonight. Nash tells Hall that he’ll be his promoter.

  • The Revolution is shown putting Torrie in a shark cage.

  • The Revolution interview.
    -Shane tells the Filthy Animals that they will realize the Revolution has made an offer they can’t refuse. Saturn proposes a match between he and Guerrero for Torrie. Malenko takes the mic and tells Benoit that he is too soft, and that he will cripple him tonight. Benoit entered. Benoit tells Malenko that their match will be a cage match.

  • Nash is shown getting some make-up put on.

  • The Filthy Animals entered the arena. They were upset because someone slashed their tires. A security guard stopped them and asked them for passes, he was attacked by the Filthy Animals.

  • Kimberly and Nitro Girls interview.
    -Kimberly tells the Nitro Girls that because of DDP’s injuries she has more important business to take care of, and has to quit the Nitro Girls.

  • Lash Leroux defeated Ernest Miller w/ three ladies to advance in the tournament.
    -The Cat makes his way to the ring with three ladies. The Cat took early control of the match. While he is getting thrown against the turnbuckle, his knee gives out and is forced to submit.

  • Backstage, Mike Tenay interviewed Bret Hart. Bret said that Nash, Hall, and Sid are below the barrel; and by the end of the night, he would get his revenge.

  • The Nitro Girls were shown backstage. Spice was pumping them up and told them to follow her lead. Jazz asked her who made her leader and left.

  • On the Kid Cam, Kidman said that Elizabeth was about to change. Liz told Luger to look at the brackets, and look who his next opponent may be. Luger asked Elizabeth what she was going to do about it. We then see the segment director say cut.

  • Scott Steiner interview.
    -Larry Zbyszko conducted the interview at Steiner’s home. Steiner said the pain had gotten too great and that was the reason he had to get the surgery. He said that he is in a lot of pain and doesn’t know if he’ll return.

  • The Nitro Girls are shown performing a routine. During the routine Spice hit Jazz and the two began to fight in the middle of the ring.

  • Backstage, Mike Tenay interviewed Buff Bagwell. Buff said that he thought he would be a top draw, but The Powers To Be don’t want it. Buff said it didn’t matter because whoever lined up in front of him would be knocked down.

  • Backstage the other Nitro Girls were trying to settle their differences, but Jazz and Spice started fighting again.

  • Buff Bagwell defeated Stevie Ray by disqualification to advance in the tournament.
    -Stevie Ray camr out and told Buff that the Powers That Be ordered a Strap Match. He said he had to do what he had to do. Stevie Ray took the early advantage and dominated most of the match. Buff was able to send Stevie Ray over the top rope with a back body drop. The Enforcers of the Powers That Be, Creative Control, entered the ring , the ref called for the bell, but Buff was able to escape before he was attacked.

  • Backstage, Mike Tenay interviewed Jeff Jarrett. He asked Jarrett how we are to believe he wasn’t responsible for hitting Elizabeth. JJ said he didn’t do it, and he would get a public apology from the Total Package.

  • Outsiders interview.
    -Kevin Nash entered the ring in Vince McMahon make-up. He said he was the most powerful man in sports entertainment. He said he does everything for the fans. He said he now was a billionaire. He introduces Hall as the toughest sob in WCW and the chosen winner of the tournament. He called Hall the trouser snake. Hall said that he wouldn’t follow that act because he won’t burn any bridges. Hall asked him who picks out his clothes. They then say to all the boys in NY they have their attitude right here and did a crotch chop.

  • Luger was shown backstage telling Meng that JJ was making fun of him.

  • Backstage, Mike Tenay asked Curt Hennig whether tonight would be his last match. Curt Hennig said there was no way he would lose to Disco Inferno.

  • Curt Hennig defeated Disco Inferno by countout to advance in the tournament.
    -Larry Hennig was ringside. Disco went to ask Larry to shake his hand. Larry refused, and Curt attacked Disco from behind. Larry got in a few shots during the match. Disco reversed the momentum by landing a swinging neck breaker. Someone dressed like Disco made his way to ringside, and Disco left with him. Hennig won by countout.

  • Backstage, Mike Tenay interviewed the Filthy Animals. Eddie said that he would take care of Saturn and bring Torrie back home. Konnan then challenged anyone to a Tag Team Title Match.

  • Norman Smiley was shown backstage dressed as a baseball catcher.

  • Norman Smiley defeated Meng and Barbarian in a three way match to retain the WCW Hardcore Title.
    -Meng and Barbarian dominated most of the match. Despite having the catcher’s gear on, Smiley screamed throughout the match. Smiley appeared to be hurt, and so the paramedics took him out on a stretcher. Barbarian and Meng continued to fight in the ring. When both were laid out, Smiley got up, ran in the ring, and covered Barbarian for the victory. Smiley then did the Big Wiggle on the announcer’s table.

  • Jim Duggan was backstage talking to the new promoters. He said he wanted to go back out there. Creative Control were behind Duggan laughing. The Promoter told Duggan that he doesn’t care about anything but ratings, and would have to think about giving him an opportunity.

  • Backstage, Luger told Meng to look at the interview that was about to occur.

  • Jeff Jarrett interview.
    -JJ came out and said he is the Total Package. He demanded an apology from Luger. Luger with Elizabeth come out. Luger apologized to JJ. He said he heard rumors that it could have been Meng. JJ said that Meng took a day and a half to defeat Madusa, and called Meng a “giant ape.” Meng runs in, and JJ leaves quickly. Luger and Liz make their way to the ring. Liz called Meng a real man, and thanked him. She then sprayed mace in Meng’s face, and Luger attacked him.

  • Luger is shown backstage telling Sting they should go for the Tag Titles. Sting reluctantly agrees.

  • Eddie Guerrero defeated Saturn in a pole match, to free Torrie.
    -The key to the cage that Torrie was held on a pole attached to the ringpost. Eddie comes out with the Filthy Animals. Torrie, in the cage, was driven to the cage by Saturn in a forklift. As Saturn entered, Eddie quickly took the advantage. Eddie went for the key early in the match, which allowed Saturn to change the momentum. Eddie hit a tornado DDT on Saturn and again attempted to climb the pole. Shane Douglas grabbed him and threw him off the pole and on top of Kidman, who was outside the ring. Torrie was able to reach through the cage and choke Saturn with a leather strap. While he was being choked, Eddie jumped up the pole and got the key. Torrie was freed and rejoined the Filthy Animals.

  • Hall and Nash (still dressed like McMahon) were backstage talking to Sid. Nash told Sid to trust him, which caused Sid to go ballistic, screaming about the last time he trusted “McMahon”. Nash showed Sid that it was only him, and they all began to laugh.

  • Backstage, Mike Tenay interviewed Luger and Liz. Tenay pointed out to Luger that his next round opponent in the Tournament will be either Meng or Sting. Luger told Tenay that he was out of line questioning him about the Tournament, when he and Sting had a Tag Title Match.

  • Sting & Luger with Liz defeated The Filthy Animals with Torrie by disqualification, The Filthy Animals retain the Titles.
    -When Luger entered, he questioned where his spotlight was. The Filthy Animals attacked Sting before Luger could do his poses. Luger mocks Kidman physique, but is hit with a drop kick. Luger appearred to blow out his knee, so he tagged Sting. Sting fought the rest of the match by himself. The rest of the Filthy Animals run in and attack Sting. They used Sting’s bat during the attack. Luger then rolled back into the ring. Sting was upset with Luger, who continued to act hurt.

  • Backstage, Hall told Sid that he will lay down for him.

  • Sting was backstage looking for the Filthy Animals.

  • Jeff Jarrett defeated Booker T to advance in the Tournament.
    -The match began out of the ring. The enforcers for The Powers To Be, called Creative Control, watched the match. Booker T had control of the match, but Creative Control distracted the ref, allowing JJ to use his guitar and get the pin.

  • Goldberg interview.
    -Mike Tenay interviewed Goldberg on the set of a movie. Goldberg said he was going to put Hall, Nash, and Sid through hell. Goldberg said they made a mistake by leaving him still breathing and he didn’t care about the odds.

  • The Nitro Girls were shown leaving the arena, and they were still fighting. Nash intervened and told them to save it for the pay-per-view.
  • Backstage, Mike Tenay interviewed Evan Karagias. Karagias said he had the hots for Madusa, and hoped they could remain friends after the match.

  • Madusa defeated Evan Karagias to advance in the Tournament.
    Karagias is unable to fight Madusa because of his attraction to her. She flirts with him, until he allowed her to fall on top of him, and get the pin. She kissed him while the ref counted to three.

  • David Flair was shown arriving with a crowbar in hand.

  • Chris Benoit defeated Dean Malenko in a Steel Cage Match to advance in the tournament.
    -Malenko attacked Benoit while he entered the cage. Benoit hit a powerbomb on Malenko. Benoit then drove Malenko into the cage. Malenko then took the advantage. Benoit reversed the momentum and executed a tombstone. Saturn climbed the cage, and threw a chain into the ring for Malenko to use. Benoit, however, got the chain and hit Malenko with it. He then climbed to the top of the cage and hit a flying headbutt and got the pin. While Benoit was still down, The Revolution entered the cage and attacked Benoit. They handcuffed Benoit to the ropes. The Filthy Animals then ran in and attacked The Revolution. They were about to attack Benoit, when David Flair entered with a crowbar and nailed each of the Filthy Animals. Flair then uncuffed Benoit. Konnan was outside the cage, and was attacked by Sting. Sting took his bat back.

  • As David Flair was leaving the arena, he was run over in the parking lot. Kimberly got out of the car, took the crowbar, and nudged David Flair.

  • Nash is shown laying in the back, with Hall calling for help. Hall said Hart would pay for this.

  • Scot Hall defeated Sid Vicious to advance in the Tournament.
    -As Sid went for the cover immediately as they had planned earlier, Hall reversed and tried to get a quick pin. Sid was furious, and the two began to wrestle. Sid dominated the early part of the match, while the crowd chanted Goldberg. The ref was knocked out by Hall when he was trying to escape from a chokeslam. Bret Hart then made his way to the ring, and nailed Sid with a crutch. Hall was able to escape before Hart hit him, and went around the ring and got the pin on Sid. Hall then left with the US Title belt.
