Hosted by Joey Styles
Live from Dayton, Ohio
[courtesy Joe de Leon]
The show opened with promos by Taz, Danny Doring & Roadkill, Nova & Chris Chetti, Jason, The Dudley Boyz, Steve Corino (w/Tajiri, Rhino & Jack Victory), Justin Credible & Lance Storm, Jerry Lynn & Rob Van Dam, all talking about who the hottest star of HeatWave would be. The Dudleys chose Balls Mahoney, teasing a fire spot. The audio & video were out of sync while Corino was talking. Rob Van Dam, sporting the brand new RobVanDam.com tee, said he and Fonzie were alright with him teaming with Jerry Lynn which brought Sabu out. Dissension is still running between The Whole F'N Show & Sabu. After the promos Joey Styles welcomed everyone to the show.
Next match: Danny Doring & Roadkill vs. Nova & Chris Chetti
Danny Doring & Roadkill were out first, with Doring working the crowd with the mic. Doring ended up proposing to the woman who accompanies them (Angelica, the WWF ho)and she said yes. He crowned her hand with a condom instead of a ring which was funny. Chris Chetti was sporting a total new outfit. The match was fantastic with high spots galore. After hitting a Double Jump Moonsault, Chris Chetti did his "Living La Vida Loca" routine with Angelica. Nova broke them up and Angelica mistakingly slapped Chetti. Chetti then connected with a Death Valley Driver into a Powerbomb. After Nova connected with Kryptonite Krunch on Doring, Chetti and him went to the top rope and hit their "Tidal Wave" finisher (Splash/Legdrop combo) for the 1-2-3. After the match the winners hugged.
Winners - Nova & Chris Chetti
Back and forth match. Jazz eventually brought a steel chair into the ring, which she slammed onto Jason's crotch. Jason regained the advantage, set the chair up in the middle of the ring and went for a powerbomb. However, Jazz reversed it, landed and hit the "Jazz stinger" (Face buster) for the win. Not as bad as it was at the FL shows!
Winner - Jazz
The match was pretty even between these 2 great lightweights. Super Crazzy used his high-flying manuevers to ground Guido while, thanks to Big Sal E. Grazziano's interference, Little Guido was able to gain control. After hitting the first two of his Three Turnbuckle Moonsaults, Super Crazzy slipped off the top rope for the first "F*** up" of the night. But Crazzy jumped back up and connected with a plancha on to Sal E.. Back in the ring, Guido couldn't finish Crazzy off with a Tomikaze and after a Tiger Bomb, Super Crazzy was able to put the Sicilian native away.
Winner - Super Crazzy
After Bubba challenged all of Dayton and Joel Gertner did his normal intro Balls & Spike Dudley made their way to the ring. Balls grabbed the mic and announced this would be a Dayton Street Fight. After about 20 minutes of brawling it looked as if Balls & Spike would become champs after both hit their finishers simultaneously. But Sign Guy Dudley grabbed the referee and pulled him outside. After Spike Dudley ripped Joel Gertner's mask off, The Dudleys were about to hit 3D on him when Balls Mahoney school-boyed Bubba for the win. New Tag Team Champs! But The Duds didn't take the loss lightly and set up Double Flamming Tables. D'Von powerbombed Spike through one but Bubba only edged Balls with the powerbomb on the table, and it didn't break. Second "F*** up" of the night. Balls landed really bad. The new champs were unconcious when "Natural Born Killaz" blasted and New Jack finally returned to ECW! New Jack destoryed The Dudleys and celebrated with Balls & Spike. I hope New Jack is back to stay.
Winners - Balls Mahoney & Spike Dudley (NEW CHAMPS!)
Tommy Dreamer & Francine came out, unexpectadly. Dreamer's 1st announcement was that ECW was going national on The Nashville Network Fridays at 8:00 P.M.., which meant over 100 million homes in U.S. and Canada. Canada was booed. Tommy thanked all the fans for their support and sticking with ECW throughout all the tough times. Dreamer chornicled how ECW went from a 50 person attendance to national TV and said we should make ECW the # 1 federation in the world. Then, he began crying and teased that he was going to retire. But "Come with Me" began playing and Steve Corino, with Rhino & Jack Victory, interrupted the Innovator of Violence. Corino trashed "Hardcore Wrestling" and told Dreamer that he has slaved for ECW. Steve said that slaving for ECW got him where he is now. His physical therapy wasn't working, he would have to have back surgery and he would retire, only at 28. Corino announced the "W" in ECW still stood for wrestling, referring to his old school style. Corino asked Dreamer if it was really worth it and he nodded. Corino couldn't understand what was wrong with Dreamer. Since Tommy would never be able to wrestle on TNN, Corino asked him to lay down for him and pass the torch over to himself. Dreamer, unpolitely, refused. That caused Steve to attack Tommy. But Dreamer came back and set Corino up in the corner. Francine took her heels off and hit a Bronco Buster followed by a Spinning DDT for the win. After the match Tajiri came out and attacked Tommy, then kicked Francine. Finally, Taz's music hit........
Winner - Francine
See-saw battle. When the match ended up outside Taz shoved Jack Victory off his wheelchair and nailed him with it. He then powerbombed Tajiri on the ramp. That was followed up by a Head & Leg Tazplex through a table. Taz, angered, went over by the fencing setup and grabbed what I think was barbwire and chocked Tajiri out with it. Finally officials got Taz off Tajiri. I guess it was a no contest as it was very confusing to see what was happening because Joey Styles ordered the camera man to stay on a wide shot because this could "get them thrown off Pay Per View."
Winner - No Contest
After setting Justin Credible up on a table, Rob Van Dam was about to put him through it when Sabu ran in and hit a Springboard Legdrop on Credible through the table. Back in the ring Storm had Lynn pinned when RVD went for a 5 Star Frog Splash. But Storm moved and Rob accidentally landed on Lynn. After a near fall, RVD connected with a Van Daminator on Storm and Lynn hit a Cradle Piledriver to score the win. After the match, RVD & Sabu argued and Sabu shoved RVD into Lynn which caused all three to begin brawling with each other. It looks like this has set up a 3-way feud going into the Anarchy Rulz PPV. September 19 from Chicago, IL. That's the show.
Winners - Rob Van Dam & Jerry Lynn
