“Oh grow up we used to do this all the time when we were kids what’s the
problem now?” Heather knew what she was thinking but she was not going to let
it ruin her night. She had had a great weekend so far and knowing that she was
going to have to go to school tomorrow morning made her want to enjoy this a
little more than usual. “Don’t worry if the boogie man shows up I’ll kick his
butt for you!”
“What ever you huge chicken! You’d probably turn tail and run.”
“No actually I think I would throw you to him then run.” Heather jumped
out of the way as Tina swung to hit her.
“Hahaha.”
Heather suddenly stopped, “Did you hear that?”
“Not funny…” Tina swung towards the hedges next to her. Oh god! She could see
yellow eyes staring at her. The edges of her vision started to blur as she
stared into those eyes. It was if they were calling her urging her to step
into them.
Heather watched in horror as Tina started walking into the hedges. Jumping
forward she grabbed her by the shoulders and pulled her back. The eyes never
wavered from Tina. Spinning her she slapped Tina across the face.
Tina blinked rapidly. She brought a had up to her face and rubbed at the sore
spot. “Thanks I think.”
“Thank me later. I want you to start running home now. Don’t look back at
all. Just keep running.”
Tina nodded her head and started running as fast as she could.
Heather looked back at the bushes in front of her. Taking a deep breath she
jumped over them.
Setting it down he got up and walked into his bedroom, throwing open the
closet doors he pushed some shirts out of the way. At the very back of the
closet he found what he was looking for.
A dry cleaning bag that was still closed held a jacket. A jacket that had the
same exact buttons as the other on his dining room table. Staring at it for a
moment he pulled it out of the closet and examined it closely. There were no
buttons missing the wrapper around it was still sealed.
Putting back in the closet he flopped onto his bed and stared up the
ceiling.
I miss Heather.
Reed couldn’t stop thinking about her. It was driving him nuts.
Throwing his arm over his eyes he thought about how nice it was to be single
at one time. Not worrying about where the other person was. But then he felt a
longing pull at his heart and knew that he was kidding himself. He didn’t know
what he would do without Heather she was everything to him.
Deciding he needed some sleep he let his thoughts drift. Before he knew it he
was sleeping.
Standing up she started walking left, left always led to hell. And for some
reason she felt that was where she was headed.
