Oh dear. S.R. 819 was absolutely BRILLIANT!!!! I really can't say much more. Everything was so mysterious and X-File like. A very nice change from the recent light hearted episodes.I'm very impressed with Mitch Pileggi's performance. It was amazing! I'm glad that his character was given a whole episode basically to himself. He hasn't been in this season very much, and I was beginning to wonder if Kersh was going to replace him.
The "disease" that Skinner has been presents a very interesting plot twist. Its now apparent that the Consortium has control over him. Spooky...
This episode receives a 10.
I nearly skipped this one after last week and I'm awfully glad I didn't. Finally, that plodding mess masquerading as "The X-Files'' this season is behind us! Thank you, John Shiban! (Whoever thought we'd be saying that?) This episode clearly illustrates what's so tantalizing about this show. No romance, no over-long speeches, NO WIZARD OF OZ. Just old-fashioned action tinged with pseudo-science, shadowy figures and a few throbbing varicose veins.
And Krychek's back. Talk of Tunisia. A quest. Whew.
I really enjoyed the ending. Even though he's just told Scully how worthless and wimpy his life's been, Skinner's willing -- after his near-death experience -- to submit to Krychek's whims to stay alive. The afterlife must be pretty grim.
I give it a 10 for being the only episode this year to hold my interest for the full hour. There's no place like home. ~ M
(I just wanted to add that it was terribly hard finding a reviewer who did not like this episode. This is the best I could do.)
You know, I may be the only one but...I was rather bored the whole time. 5/10 P.S. I've never been a huge ratboy fan, and if I was, maybe I'd rate this higher.
