Edinboro's Greek Life

At Edinboro , there is a program that each Greek chapter sends a member to each week. In this program they are taught different ways to keep themselves and their fellow Greek members safe at parties. That person is then supposed to go back and relay the information to his/her chapter.

I think this is a great way to help the Greek life on campus get a little better reputation. There is also a person that oversees everything that has to do with Greek life on campus. As a new member we are instructed to go to that person if we ever have a problem with our Greek chapter. We are also told to contact the national office of the chapter if there is a problem. When a person first starts pledging he or she is instructed to fill out a questionnaire that is completely anonymous. On this questionnaire it asks if you are feeling in any way that you are being hazed by your superiors. That is then sent back to nationals for review. Also you can immediately call the national headquarters of your Greek club and tell them that you feel you are being hazed. More than likely they will send someone out right away and address the problem. Most fraternities and sororities do anything they can to keep their chapters from hazing their new members, because they realize that it looks bad to people if all they hear about this organization is negative.
