Berkoltz

The Sanborn Irish have played many games since we were first started a few years ago, but none have been anywhere near as hard as the past two games against Berkholtz. Their team was led by the two best players around, Jonny Smith and Mike Folino. They team also had Zech Lang, anoher good player, Jimmy Palmarie, a huge kid that held the defense, and in net Scottie Retzlaff who usually played defense. The first game was set up in the enemys town of Berkholtz. In this game we had brought Jon, Rich, Fat Nolan, DJ, and Anthony. We played a three game series up to five, to decide the winner. The first game was a brutal one to the Irish, with Jonny Smith leading his team, skating all over the Irish and scoring five times to take the first game 5-0. The Irish's offense was no match for their defense, barely getting any shots and being shutout by Scottie. The second game however, was a different story. In this game the Irish's offense was on fire! There defense also was burning up. The offense led by Rich scored an easy five goals and the defense and goaltending held off the Berkholtz shooting to win 5-1. By the third game it was getting late and tension was high. This game was going to be played up to 10. The game started slow with good defense and goaltending by both teams. However the Irish got two goals past Scottie midway threw the game. Berkoltz was not going to lay down easy scoring two top shelf goals mking it 2-2. Jon of the Irish responded with a goal but Jonny of Berkoltz took the lead away fast. by this time it was too late and the series ended in a tie.
