There, Merissa had a relevation from her god "Hero Riui". With this, the three girls, had to join with the one man Riui as Adventurers...
One Liner: A fun and silly show, especially so with some DnD knowledge. Animation: Mahou Senshi Riui's animation is quite good. Though it might seem cookie cutter, its really not quite as plain as other series. The series places more emphasis upon the detail and fluidity, with each episode the same caliber or better as the episode that preceeds it. Therefore, the animation in Mahou Senshi delivers. Given the fact that there is hardly any dependency upon computer generated images makes the animation even more special. But ah, yes, Mahou can get quite... voluptuous. Never have I seen a series so infatuated with breasts (makes you wonder how the women hold themselves up). But that is besides the point. All in all, Mahou Senshi has good animation, though nothing breath-taking. Sound: The sound in Mahou Senshi Riui is nothing great, even though some tracks can be fun to listen to. This is particularly true to the OP, "Twinkle Trick." Just don't listen to it during cram periods - it'll get stuck in your head. The ED, however, is a different story. It's probably worse than the Kenshin ones: "Love and Pain" has a queer southern fobby twang that just annoys the heck out of you (I couldn't get through the song once). Story:Story... story - Mahou Senshi Riui doesn't have one. Oh wait. Haha! silly me! Yea it does, but then again, it's not really a story. Unless you count random adventures as part of plot. The thing is, Mahou Senshi Riui DOESN'T have one, save for the last three episdoes. But then again, it's not really a story, not only because it's short but also because the animators failed to find a suitable ending to wrap things up with. Um, yea. Quite disappointing in the plot department. But that doesn't mean Mahou is boring. Mahou is anything but that. Each episode is quite humourous and enjoyable. It's just that they do not constitute themselves as part of the main plot. Ok, enough repetition. Character: What Mahou Senshi Riui does have, is decent character development. If you wanted a series on character development, Mahou Senshi Riui is the one for you. Due to the lack of story, each episodes is a random snippet of the crew getting into some scrap (it's always the guy's fault). Being the only guy in a group of big chested women, trouble is bound to ensue. It can be easily argued that Mahou Senshi Riui is a guy bash anime, but the guys won't really care (if you get my drift). Regardless, the main characters somehow find themselves growing on the viewer and each character becomes unique. However, this becomes a problem with minor characters - they come and go like water, and you won't really know who did what. Another thing that bugs about the characters in Mahou Senshi Riui is that there is no villian at all. Adding the lack of proper resolution, the failed potential in character, results in Mahou Senshi with just average characters. Value: Not really something you'd want to buy, but not like it's going to bug you if you had it in your house/collection. It's just temorary amusement that will fade away eventually... Enjoyment: Somehow Mahou Senshi Riui turned out to be a very fun anime. The concept is interesting, the characters are pretty cool, and it's humourous. Enjoyable as a whole, but not so great when analyzed individualy. Thus, this is a series that you should take as it is for maximum effect. Bottom Line: Mahou Senshi Riui is a fun series that is bound to entertain. Probably not for kids (too much sexual humor) or mature audiences (it gets kind of silly), but just right for those teeny boppers. Fun stuff. |
