How/Where We Met

Once upon a time, there lived an old lady, who lived in a shoe. She had so many... err, wait, wrong story, nevermind!

The way me and Yvette met, isn't like how any ordinary couple usually meets. Usually, you meet someone at say a bar, through a friend, at the mall, or many other ways, which are typically classifed as normal! Our case isn't so normal...

The time was around May, of 2000. I had been playing at Pogo.com for awhile by this time. I started off in pogo (Called Ten at the time) around the end of 1998, or so. I was an avid spades player. It's all I knew how to do, and what I loved to do most in my spare time. I found Pogo.com by accident. I put spades into the Altavista search engine, and low and behold, there sat the gem that is known as Pogo.com.

One of my very first names ever was Spades_Troy_Man. Simple to figure out, really. Spades, being that I love spades so much. Troy, well, duh! And Man, from, errm, nevermind, you get the point! I started off playing in a room called, "Lounge 1" That was back in the days before they brought out the new layout. That room was well known as the, "Elite", "Master", "Pro" room. Basically, you had to be a pro, to compete at their level. And compete I did. I retired from spades officially in May of 2000. I ended with a red, (a red represents Master status, in the rating department) 2008 rating, 81% winnings, 19% losses. Plus I had went through about 50 other various other usernames, but Spades_Troy_Man was my main, and first Pogo.com username.

Some of the reasons for me retiring from Spades is because all the hassles. People were starting to cheat more, act childish, call each other names, and more and more it became a ceasepool of teens, and backstabbers, than anything else. So, I moved on... This is where I found Poker at. I thought to myself, "I can't use a name like, Spades_Troy_Man, for poker! So, I got my creative juices flowing, and came up with, "JustGetUpOnIt." The name speaks for itself, really. But, I got the idea for it off of a song with Keith Sweat, entitled, "Get Up On It."

So, here I am, in a room called the 20's room. They had like 5 different sections, with 5 different 20's rooms. I always went to the second list down from the top. This is where I met ALOT of friends, and people that I have become close with over time. This is where I met some people like diamonds1k, Krys100, courtjerm, sassy96c, mechellerandy, The_Shdws, DallasGreenEyes, green_bean, Kayt_, you get the idea. After about a week and a half after creating my JustGetUpOnIt name, I messed up, and accidentally cashed all of my tokens in. I knew nothing about tokens at that time, beings that spades didn't use tokens. I was so ticked off. I had about 100,000 tokens, which to me, at the time, was alot! So, I got all distraught, and made me a new name. This time, I went back to my roots! I made, Poker_Troy_Man! Ahh, yes! Similar qualities to that of Spades_Troy_Man! I was feeling back to my normal self again. During the next few weeks, pogo.com underwent some changes. They made categories of rooms, from age groups, and made topic named rooms. Well, we all agreed from our room, that we would use the room, "Friends" as our new home. So, it was come to pass, that Friends was our new stomping grounds!

This is where I think I met my sweetheart, Yvette. She use to play alot in a different room at the time, but we had seen each other in there several times. But, however, it wasn't in Poker where we hit it off, nosirree Bob! Because then, a new creation was brought to our attention...

In November of 2000, Pogo.com brought us Turbo 21! You play multiple hands of blackjack, in a speedy atmosphere. It's not like the original type of blackjack, where you are up against the dealer. It looks like this:

Talk about the most addicting game in the world. I've been playing there religiously since it's inception!

This is where we have met a numerous amount of friends, acquaintences, and even some enemies.

The room where I first started going to was called, "Turbo Jet" I played there for about a first week, until I met a gal named, "heavenly_angel" She told me about another room where they were very friendly. So, I adventured into a different room, under the 20's, entitled, "Playing in the Park" This is where it all really begun. Over the time, I have met many nice people from there, including: DesertGolfer, TheCableGuy, pipo, blue-eyedrose, upsassy, outtalove, Indy, Michon, brneyedgirl (which I always called brownie), final (whom I have a number amount of aliases as well for), melbubbles, and the list goes on, and on. But, of course, this is where I was re-united with smiley14_u.

In April of 2001, there were several people making fun of her in the room. Me, being the peace keeper that I am, tried to fight them off. They were relentless in making her feel like a big nobody. I made sure to stick by her side, and defy those sons of *$%^#es! And defy we did! We had become close friends by that time. We would talk on MSN instant messenger almost every night. We didn't flirt that much with each other, but you could tell we had a liking for each other.

One night, when I came into Turbo 21, like I always do, she gave me a hug, that looked like this:"(((((((((((((((Pokey Bear))))))))))" That's what hugs look like. A bunch of (((((())))))) around the person's username that you are giving a hug to. Pokey had come from my username Poker_Troy_Man. I was still using that alias until that time. So, people started calling me Pokey, or Pokie, depending on the person. She(Yvette), had seen a picture of me, and decided to start calling me Pokey Bear. It's okay, because I came back 2 seconds later with a hug for her, that looked like this:"(((((((((((((smiley roobi)))))))))" It didn't even take me long to come up with that. Very unique, and to the point. Roobi, representing Ruby, to what she was like to me. Her eyes sparkled like rubies, or emeralds, so that is how it all started.

Sparks started to fly, and from the day that she called me Pokey Bear, I lost all control of myself. We began flirting with each other wholeheartedly. It was now public knowledge, that Poker_Troy_Man and smiley14_u, had a thing for each other.

Several days after her calling me that, we had a conversation on Instant messenger about us calling each other. Here's a short transcript of the conversation:

..................................................

Of course, I blotted out the numbers. As you can see, we hit it off pretty well. That was just a mere sample of many countless IM's that we have. I have saved every conversation that me and her have ever had on instant messenger. Let's just say, my hard drive is wearing thin now!

So, we talked that night, and really hit it off well. I'd get more into details, but this page isn't about our love story, and how it developed. It was to give you a general idea how and where we met.

I hope you've enjoyed learning a little history on how, and where we met. Thanks for stopping by! And remember, love is like a sponge, suck all of it up and in that you can!
