You Want to Dress Like Nadia?
Hot Topic- I'm too Gothic for my cat.
Goodwill Industries- clothing Nadia in secondhand goods for over a decade.
Rusty Zipper- vintage clothing on the web.
Vampire Cosmetics- no, I don't think I'm a vampire. Please don't ask me if I am. I may be forced to crush your skull with my superhuman strength. That was a joke. Understand? Joke.
Urban Decay- now we're talking!
Naturistics- I confess, I'm a Naturistics girl. I remember when all they sold of these guys at the drugstore was chapstick and roller gloss.
A website about Earth Shoes sandals- need I say more?
You Want to Take Up Nadia’s Hobbies?
Behind the Name- the etymology and history of first names.
All Movie.com- movies up the wazoo.
The Tam Lin Pages- the only ballad with which Nadia will wholeheartedly admit to having a spiritual love affair.
Collage Art- yep. Nadia's crazy for collage art. You should see my notebooks!
Big O- I'm in love with this cartoon. Dorothy and Roger are a hot commodity with me.
Science Fiction Channel- Science Fiction double feature, anyone?
Snopes- web investigators of popular rumors, like whether or not Walt Disney's head was cryogenically frozen, or the claim that Taco Bell uses meat labeled "Grade D- Edible."
Harry Potter!- that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Nadia’s Social Life
If you’re thinking of emulating my social life, that’s a little weird. You’re probably the person who asked for my phone number in my Q&A.
My social life is very casual. Usually when I get together with friends outside of school, we’re going to the movies or church. Yes, when the Christmas eve midnight mass becomes a social occasion, you just might be a freak. We’ll also get together to go swimming or just to bum around at Robert’s or Burbage’s, or sometimes Ailly’s place or even at my house.
I also like going to gaming stores, Goodwill stores, and walking around downtown and in parks, but I usually go without friends. I actually like going places with my mother- she’s a fun conversationalist. It helps that she’s eclectic, too, even if not such a brain as mi padre. As I’ve seen from my sister (fourteen months younger than I) most people my age don’t like to hang out with their parents. Bah. My rents are cool.
At school, I sometimes hang around the ROTC hallway with Kris or Stephen. I had media arts in my second semester last year, and I’d bum around with Chance and Josh H. in the computer lab or in the teacher’s office. The foreign language hallway and the courtyard were frequent meeting places. Lunch was an event, as was “breakfast” in the morning. When we had pep rallies, I’d sit with my junior friends (Jenni, Jenny, Kristalle, and Stephen) and make fun of the proceedings while screaming my lungs out. Last year we entered Jenny’s van, decked in shaving cream and blasting “Standing Outside the Fire” by Alabama, in the homecoming parade. Didn’t win anything but it proved fun nonetheless.
At every school I’ve attended I’ve managed to attract myself towards or attract to me the pockets of liberal artist/gamer resistance, or I’ve been with those who were slightly odd and molded into artist/gamers. Most of my friends from my middle school weren’t nearly as weird when I met them. In fact, I think all the girls were pretty much normal if not more freethinking, talented, and intelligent than the average middle school girl. Those three qualities are probably what let them A) accept my strange ways, or B) become strange themselves.
So here’s my “shout-out,” thanks to Ron’s joking about Noggin…
