Session Two:
The injured mount returns to Saul’s freehold. Count Saul requests volunteers to go after Spike and Stroud. The Head Tracker recommends Cailean, a sluagh royal tracker, for the job. Joining Cailean is an eshu who feels like tagging along. Cailean picks up on Spike and Stroud’s trail quickly, along which she and the eshu encounter a winter wolf, which they kill. The eshu takes his pelt, and Cailean declines any trophies. The eshu and Cailean run into a deer-woman who offers to reward them if they bring her the head of Shaq, the pack leader. Meanwhile, Stroud and Spike make slow progress and are eventually attacked by winter wolves again. The wolves are out to get Spike, who killed one of their pack-mates in the original wolf encounter. Stroud flies off as the wolves attack Spike, and he gets unfathomably pissed off. Cailean and the eshu arrive and join the fray, killing one wolf. The others run off. The wolves return again the next night, while most of the party is sleeping in trees. The eshu and Stroud battle against the wolves while one of them has mauled Spike into a coma. Cailean is non-confrontational and spends most of this scene in her tree. The next morning, the eshu and Stroud take pelts, winter wolf meat is consumed for breakfast, and Cailean takes a stray wolf bone out of morbid curiosity. Cailean tracks the path of the pack leader who escaped the night before, and they stake out his cave. He attacks Cailean, and the entire group manages to kill him. They take his head, which they bring back to the deer-woman. The group stays with the deer-woman a couple of days. Spike is petted and fawned over by the deer-woman, Cailean is given a very sharp knife, and the pelts are turned into cloaks for Stroud and the eshu. The eshu tries to fast talk Cailean into trading her knife for a pelt, but her willpower roll ties with his and she gets to keep her trinket.
Player’s Note: this is where I entered the chronicle. Hooray! Spent my first session not talking to anyone and looking around a lot, which is totally in character. I was vastly indifferent to everyone else…partially because sluagh are slow to make friends, and partially because I was having some trouble wearing the character.
