Session Five:
The redcap did not emerge from his tests in the morning. Beorn and Cailean went to feed the horses, and asked Grimjaw’s horse why it looked not-so-perky. According to the horse, the redcap was dead. The remaining three party members camped topside that night, probably their first night out of the crevice in awhile. The sluagh had a dream… in said dream, she was standing by a pond, and there was a loon. Of course, she asked it her ever-present question: Why a loon? The loon replied with “Why a sluagh?” and things went on their merry way. The loon roped Cailean into going and getting the pommel. She found herself in a room with five doors, two of which ran away, leaving three doors and a statue of a beautiful sidhe woman. The sluagh had to solve a puzzle to get through, whereupon she was in Oberon and Titania’s court. Oberon informed Cailean as to Grimjaw’s demise, making her the only character who knows that he wasn’t just ((gulp)) eaten by the rock. Cailean retrieved the pommel and woke up. Meanwhile, back at the ranch (err… I mean Caer Winter Rose), Grimjaw’s ward came to from her coma, during which she had undergone her chrysalis and become a sidhe, Lady Caroline. Count Saul filled her in on a few events and sent her forth to avenge Grimjaw’s death. She arrived as the remaining party members were eating dinner, leading to a few humorous lessons from Calistan as to how to eat meat from a knife and sleep on the ground. Calistan, Beorn, and Cailean wound up with a mild disdain for the sidhe. Well… that happens. She’s a sidhe, and the rest of them are commoners. They rode out the next morning and stumbled upon five Balor nobles kicking around a satyr and getting ready to kill him. Beorn charged at them and Cailean fired an arrow at one of them. Things were in a minor state of chaos before Caroline yelled at everyone to stop. The satyr-kicking Balors maintained that unless the satyr was an oathman of House Fiona, it was no concern of the party. Calistan asked the satyr if he swore fealty to him and House Fiona and made the satyr his squire. Calistan dueled with a Balor noble for possession of the satyr. After winning the stupid goat and being subjected to a ramble about his many adventures, Calistan lay down some rules for his squire: a) speak when you’re spoken to, and b) if you mess with the sluagh, I’ll kill you, and if you mess with the sidhe… well… she’ll probably kill you. Cailean and the sidhe had their only moment of bonding after realizing that a satyr was joining their party and that their number one job was to make women easy. The party rode forth, with the satyr jogging along after them, until they encountered some harpies. The harpies demanded a toll and there was some haggling, but eventually they were given the satyr for use as a sex slave. There was marathon harpy sex and the rest of the party rode on without him, counting on him to catch up with them later. At Caer Winter Rose, Count Saul found two excuses to have parties: Cailean was knighted, and the Sword of Spring was reforged and presented to Calistan, Beorn, and Cailean. Cailean beat out Beorn and Calistan for possession of the sword in a combination game of rock-paper-scissors/dice rolling. Between the two parties, the lay count was as follows: the sidhe-girl had sex with five men and four women, Calistan had sex with fourteen women, and the satyr had sex with six women of various kiths. The sluagh and the troll successfully ran out before they got nabbed by satyr-music. A week total was spent at Winter Rose, and there was a moment when a knocker didn’t swear. He died shortly afterwards.

Player’s Note: My character finally had her curiosity sated as to “Why a loon?” Given the opportunity to speak with the loon, she asked, and the following conversation ensued:
C: Why a loon?
L: Why a sluagh?
C: That’s a good question. That’s what I turned out to be.
L: This is what I turned out to be.
I was delighted. Unfortunately, I had taken some Benadryl before going to the game and my thinking skills were greatly impaired. I did eventually get into Oberon and Titania’s court, where I was given the choice to either take the pommel or stay in Arcadia. All I can say is…woah. I understood the concepts of fae and changelings and the Dreaming and Arcadia, but it didn’t really sink in until this session. Oh, consider it sunk! I was actually kind of surprised that I was sent after the pommel and not Caroline’s sidhe, although it was agreed across the board that putting a new character through character-based tests was cruel and unusual. We did pick Caroline up in this game, much to my amusement. Her character asked if we had plates while we were eating savory redcap moose, and then wanted to know where the beds were. Will says that we’ll break her of her sidheness yet. I had something of a chip on my shoulder about being the lowest-ranking member of the party, which was aggravated when the satyr became Calistan’s squire. Luckily, Cailean was knighted and I can stop randomly following my dialogue up with “and I’m still the lowest-ranking member of the party.”
