The Shadowy Shadows Session

Things That Happened Between Tortoise Submarine and Now: Turnkey and Nip went to the Green Dragon and talked to a green version of Figment. Turnkey was given a “Dead Fear to Go” map and Nip became a fearsome dragon-slayer. Anyanka took off on her own and met a young eshu man. They’re currently under the theatre. Again.

The recently bereaved Mrs. Mills (Mills’ Millinery: She’s An Evil Whore) drops a large hatbox containing a beautiful, shiny pirate hat off at the Bean Brothers Mortuary. Tasgall brings the hat to Turnkey’s shop, where Turnkey is working on his model of the submarine and Nip is playing with a toy sword. Nip runs around wearing Stede’s hat while Tasgall and Turnkey argue about a map that Tasgall can’t see (Turnkey eventually amends that by nailing the map to a slice of giant bean). The satyr shows up and the four adventurers go forth to give Stede the hat in exchange for a prophecy that starts out sounding like a hardcore song. With Stede’s prophecy/directions, the foursome double up on the satyr’s motorcycle and Tasgall’s Vespa and head out for Wadmalaw. After a stop at a rural convenience store for candy bars, pork rinds, and Mountain Dew slushies and a trek through a marsh, the group finds themselves at the ruins of an old house and outbuilding. A giant bearded vulture shows up and flies over to a ravine, and is tailed by Nip, Tasgall, satyr, and Turnkey. Unfortunately this is unwise, as Nip and the others are then exposed to the sight of the vulture feasting on the corpse of a dead hiker. The satyr takes Nip back to the ruins, Turnkey talks to the vulture with little success, and Tasgall wanders off into the woods. After some nonsense with shadowy shadows, Tasgall returns to the ravine and sends Turnkey back to the ruins while she talks to the vulture, who happens to be a Death. Tasgall runs back in terror of the shadowy shadows and the foursome flees mostly without question. Upon return to the toy shop, a troll tourist wearing a Hawaiian shirt and a khaki kilt comes in asking for directions to John’s Island, claiming that he’s headed for a pirate museum. Tasgall thanks God for giving them a sign and the quartet mount bikes once more to go to John’s Island, where they are treated to the amazingly tacky sight of The Chimerical Historical Society for the Preservation of Traditionally Pirate-Infested Places. The tour of the museum is fairly uninformative, and Nip panicks when she sees a statue of Sheeva tied up in a corner on the self-updating pirate ship diorama. After the satyr gets kicked out of the gift shop by Phil the Whore-Loving Boggan Tour Guide, the fantastic four head down the Pirate Walk, where they meet a very shadowy, noose-strewn tree. Nip asks it questions, and the group goes on the run again when Turnkey decides to poke the shadowy shadows milling around the tree with a stick.

Soldier forth to The Pool Session.
