Wedding Invitations

Little did I know how much life would change on that fateful day of November 25, 1999.  This was the day of my twenty-seventh birthday...the day EverQuest came into my life.

Several months went by, until on January 30, 2000 when I was pressured by a friend to finally install EverQuest.  I was informed that the best way to learn to play EverQuest was to start with an easy character.  The recommendation of my friend was make a wood elf Ranger.  I decided to heed his advice, and create my first character, Luminaria in the city of Kelethin.

Learning this game was not easy.  There were so many keys to remember, too many wasps (these always made me uneasy) would kill me and I always had a very difficult time finding my corpse.  In fact, right after I created Luminaria I fell from the city to my death and never did recover my corpse.  This game took some getting used to, but I after a while I did get the hang of it.  Always staying within view of the city.

I ran around by myself for quite some time (about two weeks, around level five) until one day there was a group of other characters that asked me if I wanted to join them in a place called Crush Bone.  Crush Bone?  This did not sound like a place I wanted to go, but considering this was the first time I was ever asked to join another group I was more than willing to go.  I joined this group of strangers, quite excited to be able to play with other players of this game that I was slowing beginning to like.

I followed this group of people to the mouth of a large cave, still wondering if I should go in...this was very far away from my trees and into a place called Crush Bone.  Crush Bone!  Was I sure about this?  No choice now, my group was counting on me after all.  We entered the zone and the group I was with scattered and was slaughtered.  I did not know where I was or how to leave.  All I know was that I was staring at the corpse of the only member of the group that spoke to me and no one in the group was answering any of my questions (looking back now, I probably didn't have group chat on).

Next thing I knew the huge orcs that had annihilated my entire group was on me, killing me quickly in a moat that I had fallen into and couldn't get out of....LOADING PLEASE WAIT.

When I recovered at my bind point, the group had dropped me.  I had no clue where my corpse was or how to get back my stuff.  I called my friend for help, which he did.  At that point I decided I was never, NEVER going to group with anyone I didn't know again, especially in a place called Crush Bone.  I also came to the conclusion that I wanted to create another character...one that could heal herself.
