Expansion Edit

First off, I'd suggest that you DO NOT EDIT YOUR ORIGINAL FILE. I can't guarantee that nothing will go wrong or you may save changes that you wish you hadn't, so use a copy of your VMS file.

Loading the file
If the file you have is in DCI/Nexus format, you must first convert it to a VMS with the DCI2VMS program. Then you will be able to load the file in FPDEdit. You can only load/edit Expansion Edit files, not the system data, rename files, etc.

To load a VMS file, from the main window click "File", then "Open Expansion Edit File". A file dialog box will open and you can choose the VMS file you wish to edit. If you try to open a non-compatible file you will get a message telling you so. If your file is a proper Expansion Edit VMS, you will be taken to the slots screen.

Edit Slots Page

When you first go the slots page, there should be 50 slot buttons, the "Done" button at the bottom & the (initially disabled) function buttons.

First click on the slot that you want to make changes to, then click the button for the action you wish to use. Only the appropriate function buttons for the current slot will be enabled.

To close the slots page and, if changes were made, finalize the VMS file, click the "Done" button.

Note on how saving works: All but one of the "Save" buttons save changes to memory, with the "Save" button on the main wrestler edit screen saving the changes to file.

Wrestler Edit Page

On the left side of the screen is the wrestler's data, on the right are the buttons that take you to the other parts of the editing process. The "Save" button at the bottom is the main wrestler save button, the one that saves the changes made to file (the others just save to memory).
When finished editing a wrestler slot click "Save" to save the previously saved-to-memory changes to the VMS file or "Cancel" discard all memory changes.

Name Entry

FPDEdit will only allow the following characters as entry/display (all the characters on a standard US keyboard):
`1234567890-=qwertyuiop[]asdfghjkl;'zxcvbnm,./\
~!@#$%^&*()_+QWERTYUIOP{}ASDFGHJKL:"ZXCVBNM<>?|

Do not paste in incompatible characters, especially the upside-down question mark (¿) because it's used by FPDEdit in the name conversion process!

If you have a previously saved wrestler from FPD that uses undisplayable characters, the program will give you a warning and a choice to edit the name or not. If you don't change the name, the original characters will remain intact when you save. If you choose to edit the name, the undisplayable characters will be converted into question marks.

When finished, click "Save" to save changes to memory or "Cancel" to exit name entry without saving.

Wrestler Make

The appearance section consists of the color and the wrestler body make sections.

Color Section
To edit the colors, first click a color box, then "Edit". You can then move the RGB scroll bars to change the color. Click on "Done" to keep the changes to the color, click "Cancel" to discard them.

Make Section
Select the wrestler size, stance and body part types & sizes.

When you're through with editing the appearance, click "Save" to save changes to memory or "Cancel" to discard them.

Skill Edit

You can use unlimited points (well they're not really "unlimited", more like "an excessive amount"). To change the available points double click the "available points" in the top right corner.
(Note: if you go over 999 points, in FPD the first number is cut off, but the points are there)

You can also assign the match BGMs as entrance themes.

Click "Save" to save the changes to memory or "Cancel" to exit without saving.

Parameter Edit

The attack parameters can go up to 99 and defensive up to 17 (though I really don't recommend putting them above 10 for normal wrestlers).

Save, Cancel. You should know the drill by now.

Move Selection

The move selection is broken up across 5 screens and the finisher name page.

Moves
You can assign unlimited specialties & finishers and can choose normally unavailable moves in compatible slots (like strong grapple in weak or medium grapple slot).

If you have a previously hacked wrestler that has incompatible moves assigned (like a standing attack as a grappling move), when you load up the move page with that slot in FPDEdit, the move will be unavailable (it will change to the first choice on that particular list).

Also, the five moves pages have their own save buttons, so each saves separately.

The move names are mostly taken from the FPD Movelist 1.3, but I changed a few to "American" names here and there. If you don't like it, that's too freakin' bad! :) I didn't really put much consistency into the naming conventions, either. For instance, I changed all the "brainbuster"s to "suplex"es, and the sheer drop versions to "brainbuster"s, but I didn't change the "backdrop"s to "back suplex"es. Hopefully, you'll know what the moves are supposed to be...

Finisher Name

When finished click "Save" to save changes to memory or "Cancel" to exit to discard them.

CPU Logic

First select the main logic category from the top box, then the subcategory from the second box. To change the logic amounts, click the "Edit" button and move the scroll bars. Note: you can move ALL bars up to 100, but you can't save the values unless they TOTAL 100%.

To save the changes to memory, click "Save", to discard them, click "Cancel".

HTML Template

Enter the wrestler's name & organization and who created it, then click "Create File". A "save as" file box will open, type in the desired filename. If it was successful, you should get a message telling you so.

Single Wrestler Saves

With FPDEdit you can create single wrestler saves (*.fpd) which could be useful for moving a few wrestlers from one pack to another more quickly than in FPD.

Import
Choose an FPDEdit file from the open file box to load into memory (it will overwrite the current wrestler data, it asks you to make sure).

Export
Creates an FPDEdit save file from the currently loaded data after you enter the desired filename. You will get a "File saved" message if it saved properly.
