Courtney In The Sky With Diamonds

Kiss Her With Stars

True, Courtney Love is known mostly as the "kinderwhore" of a punk rock band. But she is also well-known as an actress. She has starred in many movies, and has even received award nominations for her talent. Courtney Love's just talented all around!
Though she was hoping to get the part of Nancy in Alex Cox's upcoming film, "Sid and Nancy", she settled for the smaller role of Gretchen. The movie was released in 1986. This wasn't Courtney's last time starring in an Alex Cox film. As a matter of fact, Alex Cox had written a script for Courtney Love to play the main character, Velma. Courtney accepted and the movie, "Straight to Hell", was released in 1987. Though Courtney was able to play the lead role, the movie bombed. After playing the very small role of Norman's Spanker in the 1988 movie, "Tapeheads", Courtney retreated from acting, and wouldn't pick it up until eight years later.
Though Courtney took a break from acting, she did appear on "1991: The Year Punk Broke", which was released in 1992. But this wasn't acting, not by any means. This tape just produced footage and clips from interviews, shows, and stuff like that. This film portrayed Courtney's role in the world of music.
After touring for Hole's second album, Live Through This, Courtney decided to rest herself from the music, and focus more on acting. But before she did any acting, she coordinated the music for 1995's film, "Tank Girl". Then, she would try out for an upcoming film, Basquiat. She ended up playing the part of Big Pink. Not long after acting for this film, she obtained a part in another upcoming film, "Feeling Minnesota". She got the part of Rhonda, a waitress in the film, working with the main character of the movie, Keanu Reeves. Both movies were released in 1996. But Courtney's biggest success in her acting career would be starring in the 1996 film, "The People vs. Larry Flint". Of course, she had to take a urine test everyday to prove that she was not on heroin, but it all paid off when she received a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Althea Leasure. Courtney was not just an actress, though. It is said that Courtney has read many books about producing films, behind the scenes work, and many other out-of-acting skills. In 1996, she co-produced "Not Bad For A Girl", and was an interviewee in the film. In 1997, Courtney tried out for "Man On The Moon" and "200 Cigarettes", two films that would be released in 1999. While working on that, she was featured in a film called "Off the Menu: The Last Days of Chasen's", which was released in 1998. That same year, Courtney agreed to make the voice of Euippe, a character in Disney's "Hercules" TV series. Also released in 1998, Courtney was featured in a very poorly produced documentary "Kurt & Courtney", which was against her wishes.
In 1999, "200 Cigarettes" was released, which featured Courtney Love as Lucy. Not long after it's release, a movie starring Jim Carry called "Man On The Moon" was released, featuring Courtney as Lynn Margulies, also known in the movie as Andy Kaufman. This movie was a huge step up for Courtney. That wasn't all for Courtney that year. She got the part of the narrator of "Clara Bow: Discovering the It Girl", a show on TV. In the year 2000, Courtney starred in "Bounce: Behind the Velvet Rope" and she played Joan Vollmer in "Beat". Released in 2001 was "Julie Johnson", with Courtney as Claire and in 2002, "Trapped" was released, with Courtney as Cheryl Tilly.
Now Courtney Love can often be seen at award shows wearing glamourous dresses and outfits. She tends to shock people with her creativity and her outrageous costumes. We all know Courtney was fit for a punk rocker, now we know she is also fit for a glamour goddess!
