Kate walks in slightly out of breath from always running late and sits her small frame onto a comfy couch. She is wearing form-fitting jeans and a salmon colored tank top that says "Innocent" with devil horns above to "c." Rather fitting she thinks. Her perfectly styled "girl spikes" as she calls them, are glistening fiery red as she sits crossed legged on the sofa.
"Hey! I'm Kate, 21 years old and am currently living in Riverside, CA with my parents. I am a senior at Cal State San Marcos down by San Diego. I am majoring in Sociology and will take that onto the Police Department when I graduate. I work at a Christian bookstore here in Riverside and just recently heard that I passed my background investigation for the Police Department to be a Cadet. What I ultimately want to do is be a K-9 Officer.
"In all honesty, I have a girlfriend. Now I know that may shock you, I bet you are thinking, 'she works at a Christian bookstore and has a girlfriend?!?' Yeah, it is kinda ironic if you think about it. I do believe in God, I was raised Christian. But I hate to put a label on myself and say 'lesbian/bi/straight.' Yes, I am in love with a woman, I cannot help that, trust me, I have tried! I guess that is where Krystal's 'My Religion' touched my heart, my fav line 'There's nothing wrong with tradition, but tell me where it says not to follow our hearts.' Those words touched my soul like you would not believe. I never knew what context she meant the song in, but that is how it spoke to me. I know most people will reject my beliefs or say that I am not a Christian or I'm going to hell, but that isn't for anyone to decide. So I guess you could say I lead a double life. To my work, I am a straight, clean-cut Christian girl with some shocking hairstyles. I don't hide who I am, but I don't broadcast it either. I'm just me.
"I have some strange quirks, I love hippos! So much in fact I have a small hippo tattoo on my back. It is really cute. I guess you could say that I am the typical tattooed/pierced/dyed Cali freak! I have 12 piercings and 3 tattoos. Most of my piercings are all hidden, but I like them. I have my ear lobes pierced 3 times on each side, then on one ear I have my cartilage pierced twice right underneath each other. I have my tongue pierced, my belly button and my left nipple. Why one nipple? Because I like to stand out and be different. I figure my perfect match will have the other nipple pierced and together we will have one set of pierced boobs!
"I have moved around quite a bit and lived with many different people so living with 6 others wouldn't be so difficult. I lived with my parents until I graduated high school, then I received a full scholarship to University of Wisconsin-Parkside for cross-country and track. I lived there for a year in the campus apartments with 6 other girls. 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms... talk about busy in the mornings! I lived in a 'party house' basically, so I am used to not sleeping and I can drink just about anyone under the table, even though I'm only 5'6" and about 105 lbs dripping wet. From there I moved to Encinitas, CA where I ran/run for Cal State San Marcos, I lived in a house with 2 other girls for about 8 months until it was broken into. I have since then moved back with my parents out of money troubles and would be anxious to get out and into a house with people closer to my age.
"My music likes are just about everything. My music changes just as my mood does, so I am always a good one to go a road trip with, I'll like anything in the stereo. I would have to say that I am a cowgirl at heart though, I love Reba McEntire! She is just so awesome. Hmm... think Krystal would ever do a duet with Reba? My two favs in one song.
"I'm a fairly easy person to get along with. I love people and meeting new ones as well. I love to go dancing and hang out with my friends, I am very spontaneous and will try anything once, more if I like it! I find it impossible to turn down a dare. Apparently, I have picked up the Wisconsin accent and crossed it with the Cali way of talking, so I am quite humorous (so I am told) to listen to. I love to dye my hair freaky colors to express myself and I am rarely seen without a smile. I look forward to this opportunity and welcome the challenge with open arms.
