Forty years! Doesn't seem possible!! Does anyone else feel (in heart, that is) like they're still 16?? Strange how the mirror doesn't quite reflect it, though.
So, where am I now?......
Presently we live in beautiful Oregon, having been here for thirty years. Guess that just about qualifies me as a true webfoot by now. We live 35 miles from Portland, 26 miles from Salem (the state capitol), and 58 miles from the great Pacific Ocean. If we travel 65 miles in one direction we can be in the Cascade Range of mountains. Thirty five miles the other direction takes us to the smaller Coastal Range. Oregon is quite the place to live, with lots to see and do.

And now for a bit of the past -
July 1, 1960 found me on my way to Minneapolis to start the next mile on my road of education. I graduated from Northwest Institute of Medical Laboratory Technique and became registered with the AMT as a lab and x-ray tech.
November, 1961, found Dale and me standing at the altar of marriage. Thirty-eight years later we are still man and wife. Dale works for Stimson Lumber Co. near Forest Grove, OR.
Our lives have been blessed with three beautiful children, a daughter and two sons, and seven "perfect" grandchildren. (What else is a grandmother to think?)

After graduation from NWIMLT, I worked for a clinic of internists in Denver until we decided to move home one last time. Believe it or not, my next job was as relief tech at good old Julesburg Hospital. I worked there until our move to Oregon in 1965. My final job as a lab tech was here in Oregon in a family practice clinic. In 1972, I felt the call to be full time MOM, closing the door on my career. In looking back, I have no regrets.

Today, I am back at work full time in a doctors office as receptionist and bookkeeper. I thoroughly enjoy my job, but still get a yearning, now and then, to be back in the lab or x-ray. After this many years, it would mean a trip back to school so doubt that I'll ever make it to work in those surroundings again.
School Days... School Days
Favorite teachers: Mrs. Moss, Mrs. Detamore, Mr. Thisius, Miss Klemme, and Mr. Hillyer.
Favorite subjects: I'd take them all again. Least favorite class: HOME-EC. (I still hate to cook!)

School memories: Lora Rae's black pick-up. One Halloween night with gray-hooded sweatshirts and a few eggs!! Sweetheart Balls. A day at Ogallala Dam. Graduation and the party and breakfast afterward. Our outstanding band. The games and sporting events. Does anyone else recall our class having more than the usual number of teachers during our mid-grade school years?? If I remember right, I think we had a few extra come and go during that time. How about the dog collars we wore with a "special" someone's initials on them? Am sure Dye Hardware loved that fad.
Well, a little about me:
I like antiques - anything "old" relating to my childhood or my parent's childhood's.
My hobbies include collecting special figurines, certain magazines, and country windmills. Dolls, rabbits, and teddy bears are also among my collections. (As for these latter things, a motto on my wall says it best, "Grandmas are just antique little girls.")
My favorite pastimes are spending time with my Grandchildren and working.

Who would I like to see:
The Class of 1960!!! Will I get to see you?As of this writing, I'm not sure. It will, no doubt, be a last minute decision.

I have stayed in touch, on occasion, with Lora Rae, Lavonne, Sandi, and Bula. But a good visit with one and all would sure be fun.
So ... to all of you in the Class of 1960 - If I don't make it, know that I will be HERE thinking of all of you THERE......and waiting for a nice long letter from Lora Rae. She's been faithful in keeping me up to date for years now.
A note to the Class Reunion Committee - Hats off to you. You've done a fantastic job. You've caused me to open my chest of memories and pull out some great treasures. Those were certainly wonderful years and would never have been the same without each and every member of the class.
Thanks Lora Rae, Carol and Geraldine.
