My memories of Julesburg and my school "daze" are mostly pleasant, but I'm sure glad I'll never have to repeat them. Most favorite teachers were Lois Lowery in 1st grade and Rosa Mae Detamore in 5th. Worst was, without a doubt, "Miss Francis" Banks in 8th! I dearly hated that woman. I remember several poor souls that the Class of '60 ran out of town, but we couldn't get rid of Miss Francis and her ugly gray jumper fast enough!
I remember playing with Skip Busse, Darlene Sapp, Karen Allen, and Ron Smith when we lived across the street from the Catholic Church on 3rd and Sycamore. My dad kept horses there, and the old barn is still standing. It was a great place to play cowboys and Indians. We always rode horses in the parade for the Fair, and sometimes went to other towns to ride in parades. I remember Girl Scout at Rose Shaw's house, and hours and hours spent at Virginia's house.

Of course I was such a good child, but I do remember getting caught by Gene Mikelson trying to put a ladder up to the SCHS front door one Halloween. There were a bunch of us, but of course, he took after me, the one that couldn't run fast!
My parents and I moved to Denver a few days after graduation, but I came back for Virginia's wedding and that's when I met my husband, Keith Jeppson.

He grew up in Chappell and has a family connection to the Whittens, so I get to visit with Agnes and Donna occasionally and sometimes see Rodney.
My father had worked for the railroad in Julesburg for many years and after living in Denver awhile, he went back to work for the UP and they lived in North Platte, NE a few years, then moved to Sidney, NE and then again to Denver. My dad died in June of 1994 and my mom is now 89 and living in a nursing home in Thornton, CO close to my sister and me.

Keith and I were married in 1965 after he spent a few years in Spain in the Air Force. He worked for 27 years for Boettcher & Co. until he was "down-sized" in 1992. Since then, he and our oldest son, David, have their own business doing home repair and construction.
We also have two other sons - Dan, who is a teacher and Darren.

| I have worked at J. C. Penney and Joslins in sales and alterations, and have done lots of day care, but I'm happiest at home, being "just a housewife". |

I have worked at J. C. Penney and Joslins in sales and alterations, and have done lots of day care, but I'm happiest at home, being "just a housewife". I'm very involved at the Northglenn United Methodist Church making new banners and altar cloths, and organizing and making items to sell at our annual UMW craft sale in the fall. I also bake and decorate cakes for weddings, etc. It's just a normal, ordinary life, but I guess that's what we all hope for isn't it?
