Sam Flax, Aaron Goldfarb, Louis Lebenthal, Adolph Wiener and Wolf Yellowitz founded the Sander Eichel Family Circle in April 1947.  The purpose of the family circle, as they stated in its written Constitution is:

a)      To foster good relations with our family and unite our children in the bonds of a warm relationship.

b)      To provide a common burial ground to unite our family for all the years to come.

The founders wrote in the Constitution:

Sec. 2 This family circle may never be dissolved as long as there are seven members in good standing.  The family circle can never be consolidated or combined with any other organization.

You can see from the language of the constitution that it was the intent of the founders that the family circle should continue not only throughout the lives of the original members, but also should be perpetuated as long as the family exists and that the memory of its members should continue even after death.  The provision of a common burial ground for all the years to come is a clear statement of how important the family was for these founders.

Fifty-six years later we carry on this original intent.   I hope that this WEB SITE provides a means by which the family can remember the group’s founders.  I also hope that the grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren of the original members of the family circle will be able to learn more about their relatives and what they hoped for when they came to this country.

Look at this WEB SITE as the beginning of a continuing archive of Sander Eichel Family Circle.  I hope that you can add memories to it with pictures, stories and other material that will tell the history of the family circle and provide a connection for all of our family.  If anyone has things to add to the archive, please contact Rosalyn Katz at (914) 923-9018 or Irene Kamaroff at (212) 832-7570.
