This beautifully-marked Argiope likes old fields mostly, and like all Orb-weavers, their life is spent entirely on its web. The males are usually quite small when compared to the females, such as the one shown here. This one lived for about a year behind a light fixture inside the house, and I kinda "adopted" it, and even fed it on a regular basis. Here it is eating a green cockroach, which was attracted to the porch light.

I spend many a night out "frogging" (collecting pictures to add to my "Fabulous Froggage" project), and besides looking for really cool frogs, I also come upon lots of other neat stuff, such as many of the spiders on this page! This one was seen while I was making a video of calling treefrogs in an abandoned swimming pool. Mastery at camouflage! This one was sitting motionless at the tip of a broken branch, and I would have never seen it if it didn't move! This orb spider was seen on the bridge at camp (Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania) spinning her web near a light, for better insect attraction. This will take you to Page TWO
