Welcome to my site. We all have had relatives we wish had fallen a little bit farther from the tree, but without them genealogy would be so dull. I hope my site will explore not only the serious side of genealogy, but the humorous side too. Some secrets should be carried to the grave, but only to be dug up later by those who can enjoy or appreciate them.

When your gr grandpapa was married four times and divorced twice. Member of the KKK,beat up the Judge of Probate while still wearing his white sheet. Fought in a duel and had to leave DeSoto County , Mississippi even tho it was a righteous duel, dueling was outlawed in the early 1850s in Mississippi. He was ambushed shot with a shot gun and killed. When sharing with others about this ancestor , you hear many times,

DAMN, I DON'T BELIEVE I WOULD HAVE PASSED THAT DOWN." (Sounds like something Lewis Girzard would have said.)

When you feel like you must complain. Smile

Do not mind if things seem gray; Soon there'll come a brighter day; You will find that it will pay to Smile

Harry Lamonte Waldrop of Louisiana is the last male in the line of John Benjamin, Green Berry, Joseph Ryan, James Harry, Lamonte Waldrop. These are the male Waldrops from 1762. Harry and his wife Diane and his wife have two daughters.

WALDROP: Other ways our Waldrop name has been spelled.

Waldrope

Waldrip

Waldroop

Waldrup (Marshall Waldrup)

Way back, Waldrop was spelled Wardrobe, so I've been told. Stories goes the Wardrobes were keepers of the Wardrobe. There is a story about this, somewhere in my memory bank. Stories goes there is a Castle in Scottland where the Waldrop Clan lived. My sister, Juanita, has visted the Castle while touring Scottland and Ireland. She also said most of the time you could find a Waldrop Pub on any corner.

PLEASE send me, scalawag1867@aol.com your URL address. so we may share our wealth of information gathered my the many Genealogy relatives who have research our Clans.

The Marshall Waldrup above is related to my gr gr gr grandpapa. My Benjamin Waldrop was the papa of Major Waldrup.Major Waldrup and my Green Berry Waldrop were brothers. On one Census some of the brothers last names were spelled like thier papa's Waldrop , but two of the were spelled Waldrup. I think it was the slip of the Census Taker's wrist for where you see the Waldrop's name mentioned Major Waldrup is there among them and listed as a son of Benjamin.

THIS IS AS FAR BACK AS I'VE GOTTEN BACK. SO WE WILL START WITH THE FIRST GENERATION WITH JOHN WALDROP. THE WALDROP CLAN CAN'T AGREE ON THE THREE GENERATIONS ABOVE JOHN WALDROP. As of August 25, 2003 the only people who have worked on the Dr.Joseph Ryan Waldrop Genealogy are Sandra Lee Waldrop Doolittle and Juanita Deloras Waldrop Stone Hirsch. My Thanks to Aunt Louise Waldrop Jorgensen who gave us all the cute stories and memories. Rosemary Jorgensen Salmon who took notes from Aunt Louise and wrote me all she had heard, Kay Jorgensen Buxton of Panama City, Fl who gave me and Juanita information and gave us pictures to copy of our ancestors. Thanks to Kay, even tho she lost the only picture of Uncle Lamonte Waldrop, that we had. Thanks to Joe Buxton (Kay's husband)for letting me spend the night at his house and thanks for all the wonderful food we were served while researching and while attending Aunt Louise's Birthday party. Thanks to Norma Kay Doolittle Loudermilk who help us when Juanita and I first started our research. Thanks to Vera Lee Daniels Callon who gave me as much information as she could and sent me the wonderful picture of my Dr. Joseph Ryan Waldrop so I would know what he looked like. Another wonderful picture that came from fist cousin Kay Jorgensen Buxton, who is also his great granddaughter, along with Vera Lee Daniels Callon.. Thanks also, to Norma Unger.

My Baxter (Sara A, Baxter married Joseph Ryan Waldrop) Elizabet Mary "Polly" Turner Ladd of Mobile. Mary Ann Ingram of Mobile and Rochele (Platt) Herring, Pensacola, Florida. Polly, Mary Ann and Rochells are cousins thru our gr gr grandparents J. W. and Charity Williford Baxter. Their children Sarah Baxter Waldrop and James Monroe Baxter were our great grandparents of Escatawpa and Vinegar Bend Alabama, Washington County.

Many thanks to my daughter Janice Leigh Doolittle Page(Mrs. Lee Page) who has been my partner in Crime in climbing a fence that was locked and getting her new SUV stuck in the sand in a corn field and I ended up calling the Police to ous . when we were threaten(She had a shot gun in the trunk of her car, she was carring it in.) by the owner of the land that used to belong to my gr gr grandpapa Woulard. Jan backed over another lady's trash can and went right down the street to Citronelle, Alabama and bought her a new one just to find out the lady had set the old trash can out for the men to pick it up. That was the same day my Jan got out of the car to smoke a cig. and walk around just to look up and see the SUV rolling down a hill towards a lake, with me sitting there reading my "Washington County Alabama History" Books.Good think the door was open and the car was rolling slow. I looked up and saw the lake getting closer. hmmmmmmmmm I thought, I should have learned to swim. This was the same day Dino White, my Carlton's nurse, laid my over- night bag behind the SUV and my Jan backed over it. Needless to say my cloths smelled good when I open the suit cased. Yep, she ran over all the good smelling stuff , too. But , Thank God, that wasn't the night we came off the highway about one in the morning at Opelika , Alabama and came accross a dead body covered with a sheet that had just been hit by a big truck. Then the help at Burger King told us it was the sniper and we were afraid the rest of the way home. Now ask me if I am afraid of Cemeteries and spooks? Nope! I'm more scare of my Jan.

Most of the family like my sister ***** ********* ******* **** were interested in only the names and dates. Juanita and I have not only researched the names and dates and gathered all the bones and made a full skeleton, we have put flesh on the bones with the stories and memories. Juanita , tho she has lived in England for the past 30 odd years, we have stayed in touch by mail, email, telephone calls and her visiting America and she and I researching down in Washington County Alabama together. Juanita just had a Kidney takem out a month or so ago and she didn't heal as quickly as we had wished she would. But as God, the Father always does came thru and when she was taken home I called her, and the first thing she wasnted to know was how was the research going. She has done her part by writing letters to the archives and Libraries and to everyone I met and gave her the names and addreses. Even tho Juanita was in living in England she has worked as hard as I have in Keeping Joseph Ryan Waldrop alive and a part of our lives. Joe Waldrop has been dead for 133 years as of now and his memories are very much alive. I am just glad I got to know this scalawag thru our research. He led a full and active life until the day he was killed. He was married four times and only divorced once. As Lewis Grizzard would have said, "Damn, I don't think I would have said that!" I am in hopes one day someone will read all the work put in to researching Dr. Joseph R. Waldrop and the ancestors of his time like the Baxters, Willifords, Woulards, Dearmans, Lopers, McGuires, Buckalews and many others. Right now the only one really is interested in our research and maybe one day she will pick up where Juanita and I leave off , and that is my Delaney Ann Doolittle, Born 1994. Mine and Carlton's granddaughter. Daughter of Carlton Waldrop Doolittle "Wally" and Shannon Lea Weaver Doolittle. So far Cody Weaver Doolittle who is 7 years old is only interested in his two grandmothers Rebecca Anderson Weaver and me. His Nannie or he calls me most of the time, "Nangirl" and his one and only Aunt Janice Leigh Doolittle Page , known to Cody as "Duke" or "Dukie" A name he picked out to call his Aunt Jan.

My Thanks to Zack Terrell Buckalew who has given me the Buckalew information about his grandpapa and my gr gr uncle Oliver L. Buckalew. Oliver is the older brother of my granmother Minnie Lee Masters Waldrop of Washington County Alabama. Zack has supplied me with names, dates and pictures. Not only is Zack a new cousin but also my dear friend.
